About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Property Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a growing property management company based in Detroit. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in real estate accounting and property management operations, with strong knowledge of DoorLoop, QuickBooks, rent collection tracking, and property expense management.

This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, reliable, and comfortable managing bookkeeping processes across multiple properties.


Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for residential rental properties
  • Record and reconcile transactions using DoorLoop and QuickBooks
  • Track rent collections, late payments, and tenant balances
  • Monitor and categorize property-related expenses
  • Process invoices, vendor payments, and utility payments
  • Maintain accurate financial records for each property
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting and account reconciliations
  • Coordinate with property managers regarding tenant accounts and maintenance expenses
  • Ensure bookkeeping records are accurate and up to date
  • Support preparation of reports for ownership and accounting purposes


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in property management bookkeeping or real estate accounting
  • Strong experience using property management software (DoorLoop preferred)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Understanding of rent rolls, property expenses, and financial reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple properties/accounts
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in residential real estate or property management required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Section 8 or affordable housing properties is a plus
  • Familiarity with Detroit rental market and property operations preferred
