CITIZEN STORAGE MANAGEMENT LLC

Detroit, MI

$16 - $17/hr

Full-time, Part-time

Posted 6 days ago

Job description

Assistant Property Manager – Self Storage

Pay: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour, plus a monthly performance bonus of based on rentals and occupancy.

Hours: Part-time, about 24 hours per week. Hourly, non-exempt.

Location: 2700 Junction Ave, Detroit, MI — on-site.

Schedule: Our office is open Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, Saturday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, and every shift falls inside those hours. Your days change week to week. Schedules post a month ahead and we build them around fixed commitments like school or a second job — tell us your availability when you apply.

At Citizen Storage, we meet people mid-move, mid-downsize, mid-hard-season. A storage unit is rarely just a storage unit. As Assistant Property Manager, you're the person our customers actually talk to — the one who answers the phone, walks them to the right unit, and makes a stressful week easier.

What You'll Do
  • Greet walk-ins and answer calls — ask what they're storing, recommend the unit that fits.
  • Complete rentals, take payments, and keep records accurate in our software.
  • Walk the property daily: check units, flag maintenance, keep the grounds and office clean and secure.
  • Follow up on past-due accounts and apply company policy consistently and respectfully.
  • Support occupancy goals and local marketing, and tell the management team what you're hearing from customers.
  • Coordinate with vendors and report facility issues promptly.
What We Require
  • Professional experience in a customer-facing role — retail, hospitality, service, call center, or similar.
  • Comfort using a computer, phone, and email day to day. We train you on our software.
  • Availability for the schedule above, including Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Ability to work independently for most of your shift.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have, not required: self-storage, property management, or leasing experience; cash handling or POS; sales experience in any industry.

If you meet most of this list, apply. We hire for reliability, judgment, and how you treat people — the rest we teach.

Physical Requirements

With or without reasonable accommodation, this role requires moving about the property on foot for much of the shift including opening, closing, and securing roll-up doors and gates; lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally; and using a computer and phone throughout the shift.

What We Offer
  • $16.00 – $17.00 per hour based on experience, plus a monthly performance bonus.
  • Paid sick time in accordance with the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act.
  • Paid training on our systems and on the self-storage business.
  • A path to full-time or Property Manager for people who wants it.
  • A small team where your work is visible and your judgment is trusted.

How to apply: Apply through this posting — about five minutes, no cover letter. Include your general weekly availability. We respond within two business days.
