Position Description

Quality Enterprises is looking for a Project Superintendent to join our team. The General Utility Superintendent is responsible for overseeing multiple utility crews, directing project activities and supervising field personnel to successfully complete projects according to schedule. This includes maintaining project quality, supervising on-site trade and field personnel, and administering good construction safety practices for all on-site activities.

Position Requirements

Essential Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Provide daily supervision and scheduling for crews.
  • Direct field personnel to complete projects on time, within budget, and at high levels of quality to match plans and specifications.
  • Oversee field personnel, monitor daily and weekly schedules, identify and solve problems, and report any issues.
  • Provide feedback and complete performance reviews for utility superintendents.
  • Plan and coordinate construction activities including work with other company superintendents and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate equipment, trucks, and crews to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain open communication with project managers.
  • Document jobsite details and report daily progress.
  • Attend project related meetings to discuss progress and public impact.
  • Ensure crews are maintaining organized and clean job sites.
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards immediately.
  • Enforce the company's safety program so that the company safety objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, inspectors, and other employees.
  • Assist engineers and estimators as needed in pursuit of new or additional work.
  • Display leadership in accordance with company values and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Combined education and experience required: bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or similar field along with five (5) years of experience in the field of major heavy highway or bridge construction including at least three (3) years of experience as a foreman or superintendent; or a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) along with ten (10) years of experience in the field of major heavy highway or bridge construction including at least three (3) years of experience as a foreman or superintendent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with project management and/or construction software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft O365 and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Valid Florida class E driver license with acceptable driving record.
  • Competent in reading and understanding civil construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proven and effective experience with scheduling, ordering, field supervision, safety management, quality control, and budgeting of all phases of civil construction.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and standards.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; bilingual a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • This position will require prolonged periods of time working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
