OSP Construction Manager – Data Center Fiber Construction

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

Travel Territory: St. Marys, OH to Decatur, IN (1 Opening)

Travel Territory Decatur, IN to Huntington, IN (1 Opening)

MUST HAVE

  • OSP fiber construction experience
  • Experience managing OSP Inspectors and construction vendors
  • Underground fiber construction experience including directional boring, trenching, conduit placement, handholes, vaults, and restoration
  • Experience overseeing multiple active construction projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret fiber construction drawings and project documentation
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the territory

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an OSP Construction Manager to oversee large-scale fiber infrastructure projects supporting data center connectivity between St. Marys, OH and Decatur, IN. This individual will be responsible for managing OSP Inspectors, driving contractor performance, ensuring construction quality, and maintaining project schedules across the market.

The ideal candidate comes from a fiber construction background and has experience leading field teams, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and according to design standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support OSP Inspectors throughout the territory
  • Oversee underground fiber construction activities including directional boring, trenching, conduit installation, handholes, vaults, fiber placement, and restoration
  • Monitor contractor performance, quality, production, and schedule adherence
  • Review inspector reports, field documentation, photos, and construction updates
  • Coordinate with engineering, permitting, construction, and operations teams
  • Identify project risks and drive timely resolution of construction issues
  • Ensure compliance with construction standards, engineering designs, and safety requirements
  • Conduct field visits and quality audits as needed
  • Track project progress and provide updates to leadership
  • Support project turnover and closeout activities

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of OSP fiber construction experience
  • 2+ years of Construction Management, Project Management, or field leadership experience
  • Experience managing inspectors, contractors, or construction crews
  • Strong understanding of underground fiber construction methods
  • Ability to read fiber construction prints, splice diagrams, and as-built documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fiber-to-data-center construction experience
  • Long-haul, backbone, or middle-mile fiber project experience
  • Broadband or telecom construction background
