Job description

Acuity is seeking a Project Management Consultant to monitor and ensure consistency in Acuity’s project and portfolio management guidelines, practices, and philosophy, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence through the collaborative efforts of other departments. This role is responsible for conducting regular audits and clearly communicating findings, while also supporting project operations through consulting, coaching, and training initiatives. The consultant will develop training materials, lead training programs, and serve as a key knowledge resource for other departments, helping to enhance operations through project work and cross-functional interactions, while contributing to Acuity’s overall strategic direction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Uphold Acuity best practices and consistency in project management through a variety of audits to ensure uniformity in application of standards, guidelines, practices, and identify opportunities to improve project delivery quality; perform individual and special audits as necessary.
  • Create and conduct project management training programs, encompassing multiple frameworks, for both new hires and existing employees, collaborating with management on areas of opportunity. Develop training and resource materials, supporting current and emerging topics.
  • Serve as a knowledge resource in the areas of guidelines and best practices around communication, change management, and projects delivered through agile teams and traditional project teams.
  • Partner with management to identify, recommend, and implement changes in company policies, practices, and standards related to demand and portfolio management, diverse project requirements, facilitating acceptance and adoption.
  • Partner with portfolio directors, project delivery leaders, and business sponsors to support project and initiative prioritization, capacity planning, and portfolio-level reporting to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and enterprise value delivery.
  • Develop and maintain reference materials supporting Acuity project and portfolio management practices, governance, and decision-support frameworks.
  • Support enterprise project portfolio management tooling through configuration, workflow improvements, enterprise reporting, training, and user support.
  • Monitor trends and resources by maintaining memberships in external organizations and identifying opportunities to incorporate into Acuity practices.
  • Proactively partner with stakeholders and the user community to advance new ideas and assure solutions meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and project management innovations; recommend improvements to enhance project delivery effectiveness
  • Display a positive, collaborative, and respectful attitude toward work, co-workers, the company, and others. Uphold Acuity core values and lead by example.
  • Always represent Acuity in a professional manner.

EDUCATION: 

Bachelor’s Degree or extensive direct experience.

EXPERIENCE: 

3-5 years experience in executing complex or strategic organizational projects, portfolio enablement, or project consulting; certifications in Agile or Project Management a plus

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrates strong understanding and practical application of sound project management practices, including both traditional and agile frameworks, with the ability to independently plan, lead, and execute projects when required.
  • Demonstrates understanding of project portfolio management concepts, including prioritization, value realization, capacity planning, and portfolio-level reporting.
  • Works effectively with stakeholders, customers, and resources from varied disciplines.
  • Excels in verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Displays strong capabilities in critical thinking, analysis, and creative design. Willingly pursues innovative approaches and solutions.
  • Readily adapts to changing conditions, while remaining positive and productive.
  • Effectively prioritizes, organizes, and accomplishes tasks in a self-directed environment.

This job is classified as exempt. 

The salary range for this position is $110,000- $145,000 annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
