Position Overview
The Project Manager (PM) Consultant supports the successful day-to-day execution of a complex project by creating structure, driving coordination, and ensuring alignment across team members and stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing and supporting core project operations, including documentation, meeting coordination, stakeholder communication, and project tools. The ideal candidate brings strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills to keep work moving forward in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Project Overview
Metrik is a statewide initiative led by the Office of Local and Regional Health (ORLH) to modernize and standardize workflows, data collection, reporting, and performance management across Massachusetts' local and regional public health system. The project supports alignment with state performance standards, improves data quality and interoperability, and strengthens the ability of local health departments to demonstrate capacity, outcomes, and compliance in a consistent, user-friendly Salesforce platform.
Key Responsibilities
BME Org-Wide Responsibilities for Consultants:
  • Consultant roles at BME consist of approximately 85% project work, 5% administrative work, and 10% business development.
  • Leads or co-leads larger projects, technical and advisory, and contributes to project design.
  • Independently driving work with minimal day-to-day/project oversight.
  • May supervise Associates and Senior Associates.
  • Manages projects to exemplary client satisfaction.
  • Contributes to and/or leads proposals.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Manage Project Operations & Infrastructure: Maintain and continuously improve project tools and repositories (e.g., Jira, Confluence, SharePoint) to ensure documentation is organized, accessible, and aligned with evolving team ways of working.
  • Drive Meeting Effectiveness & Follow-Through: Coordinate and facilitate recurring team and project meetings; capture and synthesize key decisions, action items, and next steps, and track follow-through to ensure accountability and alignment across the team.
  • Coordinate Day-to-Day Project Activities: Support scheduling and team coordination; maintain visibility into team capacity and project cadence to ensure work is organized and moving forward.
  • Support Cross-Workstream Coordination: Track dependencies, risks, and action items across workstreams, proactively identifying gaps and helping escalate or resolve misalignment as needed.
  • Partner on OCM & Training Coordination: Partner with change management (OCM) and training leads to help coordinate training, outreach, and partner engagement efforts, ensuring alignment between project activities, user needs, and implementation planning.

Experience, Qualification, & Skills
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience required, including 2 or more years in a consulting firm environment
  • Master's degree in Public Health or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-4 years client-facing experience, including 2 or more in project leadership roles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Required:
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, track details, and maintain momentum across competing priorities.
      • Proven track record of owning and managing large projects across teams.
    • Ability to synthesize complex information, translating discussions and inputs into clear, concise summaries, action items, and next steps.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and produce clear, actionable outputs.
    • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to evolving work; strong meeting facilitation skills are required.
    • Strong attention to detail and follow-through, ensuring tasks, decisions, and deliverables are tracked and completed.
    • And an alignment with BME's shared values.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working with or alongside state and local public health agencies.
    • Holds a recognized project management certification, demonstrating proficiency in project planning, execution, and oversight.
    • Organizational change management (OCM) experience.
    • Software build experience.
    • Understands language in the tech space and can translate it across stakeholders.
Work Environment
  • This is a full-time position based in a home office environment within the U.S.
  • BME Strategies in a remote-first organization. This role may require occasional travel to the Boston area for client sites, conferences, or meetings as required; approximately 10% travel travel is anticipated for this role.

  • The salary range for this position is $79,040 - $112,320 annually.
