Job description

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex transportation infrastructure projects across Georgia. If you're a results-driven construction professional with experience managing DOT roadway projects from award through closeout, we want to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to join one of the Southeast's most respected heavy civil contractors and lead projects that improve the communities where we live and work.
What You'll Do
  • Manage all phases of heavy highway construction projects, from preconstruction through final completion.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Lead project teams including Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with GDOT representatives, owners, consultants, and inspectors.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Manage procurement of materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, production updates, and executive reporting.
  • Foster strong client relationships through professional communication and exceptional project execution.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy highway or heavy civil construction. Project values range from $10mil to $100mil.
  • Demonstrated experience managing DOT transportation projects.
  • Strong understanding of roadway construction, grading, drainage, asphalt paving, concrete, bridges, utilities, and traffic control.
  • Proven ability to manage project financials, schedules, and multiple priorities.
  • Experience with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred (or equivalent field experience).
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred.
