Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations related to heavy haul, oversized freight, and rigging projects. This individual will play a key role in planning and executing complex transportation moves while ensuring compliance, safety, and profitability.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring close coordination across dispatch, drivers, vendors, and project stakeholders.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations for heavy haul and specialized transport movements, including planning, dispatch, and execution
  • Manage oversized/overweight shipments, including permitting, routing, and escort coordination
  • Coordinate rigging and project cargo moves, including cranes and specialized equipment
  • Lead and mentor operations staff, drivers, and field teams
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state regulations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with escort companies, crane providers, and specialized carriers
  • Monitor KPIs tied to on-time performance, cost control, safety, and service quality
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time operational challenges
  • Collaborate with sales and leadership on project planning and pricing strategy
  • Maintain accurate documentation and operational reporting
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy haul, oversized freight, or specialized transportation operations
  • Strong knowledge of permitting, routing, and escort requirements
  • Experience coordinating rigging and project cargo logistics
  • Familiarity with equipment such as RGNs, lowboys, multi-axle trailers, and step decks
  • Solid understanding of DOT/FMCSA compliance and safety protocols
  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on operational mindset
  • Experience with TMS systems and operational reporting tools
Preferred Experience
  • Background in construction logistics, infrastructure, or industrial transport
  • Experience operating in dense urban or multi-state environments
  • Established network of vendors, escorts, and specialized service providers
