Job description

Position Title: Project Cargo Manager
Location: Greenspoint/Houston
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary $70k to $100k
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Projects Cargo Manager with a strong background in air and/or ocean freight forwarding to lead operational execution, manage customer projects, and oversee shipment flow from planning through delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong knowledge of international logistics, carrier coordination, documentation, and end-to-end project oversight.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of freight forwarding expertise, customer management, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global supply chain environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple freight forwarding projects and shipment programs
  • Oversee air and/or ocean import/export coordination from origin to final delivery
  • Develop shipment plans, timelines, and execution strategies for customer accounts
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, carriers, brokers, and vendors
  • Monitor milestone progress, exceptions, and delays while driving timely resolution
  • Coordinate with internal operations, customer service, sales, and warehouse teams
  • Ensure all shipping documentation is accurate and compliant
  • Support customs clearance, routing decisions, and exception management
  • Identify process improvements and drive operational efficiency
  • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver a high level of service
  • Manage reporting, tracking, and project visibility for internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or project management
  • Strong background in air and/or ocean freight operations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills
  • Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and workflows
  • Experience working with carriers, customs brokers, and overseas partners
  • Proficiency with logistics systems such as CargoWise or similar platforms
