PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist Assistant implement components of patient care including restoring patient’s function, alleviating pain, and preventing and treating disabilities, obtain data related to the treatment provided, collaborate with the physical therapist to modify care as necessary, and provides routine care for behaviorally impaired and emotionally disturbed patients under the direction of the nursing and medical staff.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in physical therapy as evidence by college diploma from an accredited PTA program
  • Current, unencumbered, and active license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Mississippi
  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.

PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to project a professional image
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards of practice and compliance requirements
  • Ability to identify and implement components of the physical therapy process under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist
  • Identify learning needs and teach patients and staff
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of team members and individuals
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations
