Job Description: Education Programs Assistant
Department: Tilles- Education
Position Summary Tilles Center's Arts Education program engages over 17,000 students annually to explore the joy of live music, dance, and theater. Through world-class performances, in-school workshops and residencies, professional development for educators, and intensive school partnerships, the program fosters deep engagement with students, educators, and the broader community. The Education Programs Assistant will provide support for young audiences at a range of events throughout the season.
Primary Responsibilities
Students will assist Tilles Center's education department with various Theater for Young Audiences events: as performers, audience services, production support, and other duties as needed.
Preferred candidates will have/are seeking a degree in the arts, education or business administration. Applicants should have an interest and enthusiasm for nonprofit performing arts organizations, Theater for Young Audiences (TYA), and arts-in-education.
Requirements:
โ€ข Currently enrolled at LIU
โ€ข Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to work well with educators, families, children and patrons
โ€ข Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
โ€ข Performing and teaching experience/working with children and K-12 schools a plus
