Anberry Nursing and Rehabilitation, a Generations Healthcare facility, is looking for a Program Counselor to join our team. Our Behavioral Health Unit is for those diagnosed with moderate to severe mental illness, many of whom also display mild cognitive and developmental delays. The program is aimed at rehabilitating residents by teaching critical life skills that will allow them to graduate the program ready to re-integrate into their community in a successful manner.
Anberry Nursing and Rehabilitation is searching for a BH Program Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), preferably with adults in a residential treatment setting.
Position Overview:
The primary purpose of this position is to support the clients' behavioral treatment program and ensure adherence to the program guidelines. The Program Counselor serves as a model and coach for the MWHs during their assigned shift. This position requires a strong understanding of the fundamentals of ABA in order to quickly assess challenging behavior and apply effective, function-based interventions. Along with direct implementation of the program, the Program Counselor is responsible for supporting the MHWs with implementation and point collection for behavioral treatment goals, assisting with rehabilitation groups, utilizing the principles of applied behavior analysis for crisis de-escalation and skills teaching, and completing required clinical documentation. The Program Counselor works under the close supervision and guidance of the Program Director and Licensed Mental Health Clinician to design and facilitate groups. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the program director, or a designee.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Escort clients timely to groups and record participation.
  • Utilize Behavioral Skills Teaching (BST) to train and mentor the MHW team as they identify intervention goals and build skills of residents.
  • Lead MHW discussions and behavior-based trainings as assigned.
  • Lead and oversee the implementation of engaging groups and activities.
  • Serve as the responsible party and point of contact for gathering, recording, and entering documentation.
  • Adhere to weekly documentation requirements in the electronic medical record of group participation.
  • Utilize the principles of ABA to motivate clients and increase client group attendance and participation.
  • Ensure that clients are able to complete forms properly and timely.
  • Support the MHW team to document interventions and interactions with the client in the medical record using specific, observable, and objective language.
  • Report changes in behavior to charge nurse, unit manager, and program director.

Requirements:
  • Shall have at least 6 months direct service job experience in the field of ABA, preferably with adults in a residential setting.
  • Experience as a lead behavior therapist/lead RBT preferred.
  • Experience utilizing BST.
  • Must have experience with crisis de-escalation procedures (training and certification will be provided to become current).
  • Must have understanding of the fundamentals of ABA, including reinforcement, functions of behavior, and skills teaching.
  • Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor - I (CADC-I) preferred.
