Job Purpose
The Strategic Sourcing Manager's primary responsibility is to proactively source and centrally manage all activities related to assigned commodity categories. The main objective of this position is to negotiate the procurement of goods and/or services by properly balancing considerations of price, quality, and service while continually seeking opportunities to aggregate spend and drive deeper discounts to maximize financial impact.
Heavy emphasis is placed on the strategic sourcing of equipment parts, fuel (gasoline, diesel, and biodiesel), oil/lubricants, and environmental services. Additional commodity categories include office furniture (indoor and outdoor), carpeting, and mats. This position is also responsible for supporting automated purchasing programs, including
What you will do...
  • Supplier Selection - On a national/global basis, research and identify new supplier sources; develop and issue complex RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs; analyze proposals and make recommendations to senior staff in alignment with corporate procurement objectives.
  • Contract Administration - Draft, develop, review, and negotiate global, national, regional, and local supplier agreements. Liaise with stakeholders, suppliers, and the legal department to fully execute agreements.
  • E-Procurement - Develop e-forms and online catalogs to drive contract compliance and improve purchasing efficiency.
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance - Ensure all procurement activities adhere to established company policies and procedures.
  • Vendor Relationship Management - Conduct strategic supplier performance reviews to ensure KPIs are met. Jointly develop and implement additional cost savings strategies with key suppliers.
  • Program Communication - Communicate procurement programs to maximize compliance with preferred agreements. Provide updates on new programs and changes to existing programs. Ensure the procurement intranet reflects the latest information for all programs in assigned commodity categories.
  • Program Implementation - Lead cross-functional teams to ensure effective program rollout across multiple divisions to meet company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Staff Oversight - Communicate with staff and align team members with organizational goals and objectives. Develop staff through training and front-line exposure to business operations.
  • System Training - Provide training on the automated purchase order system to the procurement department and other internal stakeholders. Serve as liaison with Accounts Payable and IT to address system-related issues.
  • Fuel Bidding Program Management - Maintain and train vendors on the use of the internet-based fuel bidding program that enables field users to quickly identify fuel vendors and pricing to fulfill fuel requirements. Collaborate with IT on system enhancements and improvements.

Requirements
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 10 years of procurement experience across various goods and services, preferably within a services-related or heavy equipment industry.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across all corporate divisions to create optimal procurement approaches.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, cost models, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and writing ability, including the capacity to present complex sourcing strategies to senior leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
