Job description
Serving as a scheduling subject matter expert, facilitator, and adoption resource, the Lead supports business units in strengthening scheduling capability while helping develop, refine, and implement core scheduling processes, standards, and systems. The role is intended to enable consistency and practical application across the company, not replace project ownership or act as the primary schedule-building resource for project teams. Success in this role comes from helping teams understand what good looks like, supporting scalable process adoption, and ensuring tools and workflows are practical for real project execution.

Baseline Scheduling, WBS & Project Readiness
- Support business units in applying baseline schedule development and maintenance practices, helping reinforce that schedules are built from sound project data, contract milestones, construction methodology, drawings, specifications, sequencing, and field input.
- Support project teams in developing the work breakdown structure and using project coding effectively across scheduling, progress measurement, reporting, cost integration, and other project applications.
- Support the development of practical guidance for using drawings, specifications, contract requirements, construction sequencing, subcontractor inputs, and execution strategy to structure clear, logic-driven, and usable project schedules.
- Support regional teams with pursuit and startup schedule strategies by providing guidance on high-level phasing, sequencing, milestone planning, schedule risk, resource assumptions, productivity considerations, and execution approach where required.
Schedule Management, Progress Visibility & Performance Insight
- Support business units in establishing effective schedule update routines, including validating field progress, assessing effort expended, updating progress, and maintaining current schedule information.
- Help develop and reinforce consistent approaches to critical path analysis, schedule trend analysis, schedule risk assessment, and variance analysis so teams can identify key project issues and determine practical corrective actions.
- Support processes that help business units coordinate schedule inputs from Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, self-perform teams, functional groups, and leadership so schedule information remains accurate, timely, and useful.
- Develop practical guidance and support materials that help Project Managers communicate schedule status, constraints, risks, recovery options, and impacts of change to clients, internal leaders, and project stakeholders.
- Support teams in measuring progress and reviewing subcontractor schedule status, helping Project Managers and senior management understand subcontractor performance, schedule drivers, and areas requiring attention.
- Support the development and adoption of standardized schedule reports, lookaheads, progress curves, commodity progress, manpower analysis, productivity summaries, and schedule performance updates that meet business unit and leadership needs.
- Participate in or support planning and scheduling review forums where required, helping reinforce clear deadlines, actions, follow-up requirements, and schedule commitments.
Training, Facilitation & Change Enablement
- Support practical training sessions for Bird's scheduling tools, standards, and workflows, tailored to construction workflows and project team needs.
- Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning experiences that build confidence and capability in consistent scheduling practices.
- Travel to business units and projects as required to provide in-person coaching, reinforcement, and adoption support.

Operations Program Enablement, Technology & L&D Collaboration
- Partner with Operations Program Enablement to incorporate planning and scheduling standards, SOPs, manuals, how-tos, and training materials into program rollout activities.
- Work closely with Operations Technology to ensure software applications, configurations, and functional designs support real-world execution needs.
- Provide project-level feedback on enablement materials, system usability, tool performance, and adoption barriers to support continuous improvement.
- Partner with Learning & Development to maintain a consistent learning structure across Bird and align system training with broader learning frameworks.
- Translate system functionality and national standards into practical planning and scheduling workflows that business units and project teams can apply consistently.
Scheduling Tools, Systems Adoption & Data Discipline
- Serve as a national resource for scheduling tool use, coding structures, progress update routines, data discipline, and schedule reporting workflows across applicable projects.
- Support business units in integrating InEight, Primavera P6, MS Project, and supporting tools into schedule development, updates, reporting, and project execution routines.
- Identify gaps in schedule quality, schedule logic, data integrity, tool usage, resource planning, progress measurement, and reporting consistency, and support improvements that strengthen schedule confidence.
- Support teams in reducing reliance on non-standard tools, spreadsheets, or side systems by helping transition planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting work into enterprise solutions where practical.
Company-Wide Standardization & Process Discipline
- Support standardization of company-wide processes, tools, and systems across Industrial, Buildings, and Infrastructure while recognizing where sector-specific delivery models, contract structures, and execution requirements need to be reflected.
- Collaborate across sectors, regions, and business units to define scalable scheduling approaches that support enterprise objectives.
- Ensure future-state processes, structures, and workflows are practical, adoptable, and aligned with how projects are executed.
- Encourage transparency, accountability, shared ownership, and continuous improvement in how standards are applied and sustained.
Stakeholder Engagement, PM Forums & Knowledge Sharing
- Partner with sector and division leaders, District leadership, Project Managers, schedulers, Superintendents, and functional managers to align scheduling support with organizational goals.
- Participate in Project Manager meetings and other national forums to share lessons learned, best practices, adoption insights, and project feedback.
- Serve as a connector between project execution and national initiatives, helping ensure processes, systems, and tools remain practical in project environments.
- Share program progress, adoption trends, implementation risks, and feedback with leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
- Build trusted relationships across divisions and project teams to support collaboration, accountability, and consistent adoption of standards.
Progressive experience in project controls, construction management, scheduling, or a related construction delivery environment, with demonstrated ability to support business units in applying scheduling practices consistently across Industrial, Buildings, Infrastructure, and other multi-discipline project environments.
Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Technology, Construction Management, project controls, scheduling, or a related field.
Strong practical understanding of project scheduling, logic development, baseline maintenance, progress updates, progress measurement, schedule impact analysis, resource planning, schedule risk, critical path analysis, and construction sequencing, with the ability to coach others in applying these practices.
Experience using scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel; advanced capability is preferred but practical project application and coaching ability are most important.
Experience with InEight or similar project delivery systems is preferred, particularly where those systems support planning, scheduling, progress updates, reporting, and project execution routines.
Working knowledge of earned value, critical path analysis, schedule risk, productivity tracking, change impacts, forecasting inputs, and schedule-related corrective action planning.
Ability to assess and communicate potential change impacts to the baseline schedule in a clear and practical manner for project teams, clients, and leadership.
Familiarity with cost analysis integration, forecasting, scope control, and change management as they relate to planning and scheduling is considered an asset.
Ability to produce, interpret, or guide teams in using progress curves, commodity progress, manpower analysis, productivity reports, schedule trends, and project performance summaries.
Familiarity with construction contracting and the scheduling implications of contract terms across a range of delivery models and project types is preferred.
Ability to coach teams, facilitate learning, support change adoption, and translate schedule, system, and project controls information into clear, practical workflows.
