Registered Nurse (RN) – ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) - Travel Position (with $7,500 Completion Bonus)

Location: Fresno, CA
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 Nights
Pay: $2,926.80 /week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) 


Job Summary:

The ECMO Registered Nurse provides advanced critical care to patients requiring extracorporeal life support for severe cardiac and/or respiratory failure. This role involves managing ECMO circuits, monitoring patient hemodynamics, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective therapy.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and manage ECMO circuits, including initiation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor patient status, including hemodynamics, oxygenation, and laboratory values.
  • Administer medications, blood products, and fluids as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with perfusionists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other team members.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, including circuit complications and patient instability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of ECMO parameters and patient care activities.
  • Educate patients’ families on ECMO therapy and provide emotional support.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
  • Licensure: Current RN license in [State].
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
    • ECMO Specialist Training/Certification – Preferred
    • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) – Preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; prior ECMO experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Expertise in critical care and extracorporeal life support.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist with patient care for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for operating ECMO equipment and performing procedures.
