LSE Program Support Assistant - Specialized Recreation Programs
ABOUT THIS POSITION:
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $17.00 - 19.00
WORK LOCATION: 63 Hunter Street, Apex, NC 27502 USA
SCHEDULE: 10-20 per week, Hours and schedule will vary. Frequent nights and some weekends required

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
An employee in this position assists and leads specialized recreation programs including bingo nights, movie nights, cooking classes, art classes, and more. This position will assist in program planning.
This position reports to the Recreation Program Specialist. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS:
  • Leads and assists with recreational programs designed for individuals with disabilities.
  • Assists the Recreation Program Specialist in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assists in the coordination of recreational trips, including on-site support during trips to ensure safety and satisfaction of all participants.
  • Actively participates in activities alongside participants who have disabilities, engaging and assisting them as needed throughout the program or event.
  • Organizes and executes evening programs and day trips.
  • Assists in tracking data trends on class participation.
  • Provides excellent customer service to participants, community members, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs related duties as required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Graduation from high school and must be 18 years of age and available to work year-round.
WITH...
  • Some knowledge of planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and events.
  • Ability to make activity adaptions and modifications for a variety of abilities.
  • Ability to follow directions; enforce rules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to drive 14-passenger bus up to 100 miles each direction.
  • Possess good customer service skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Considerable knowledge of word processing, data base maintenance, spreadsheet data entry, and other specific information technology applications.
  • Skill in customer service including problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Prior experience driving 14-passenger bus.
  • General clerical and public contact experience.
  • Coursework in recreation and/or recreational therapy.
