Description
The Museum School of Avondale Estates seeks skilled and passionate professionals to serve in the role of Substitute Teacher. The Substitute Teacher provides in-person instruction to students, following the lesson plans provided while ensuring the continuity of learning during the absence of the teacher. Substitute teachers must be flexible and adapt to changing school needs as they may arise. The Substitute Teacher position is on-call and assigned based on the staffing needs of the school. Substitute teachers must create and maintain a classroom climate that promotes the mission and core values of The Museum School. Additionally, substitute teachers must be able to promote a classroom environment that recognizes and appreciates diversity. Responsibilities
  • Acting as a substitute in the teacher's absence providing in-person classroom instruction following provided lesson plan
  • Assisting administrators and other staff members in the supervision of students during arrival, dismissal, and lunch, etc.
  • Working with students individually or in small groups as needed
  • Implementing classroom management and classroom organization
  • Maintains established school and classroom policies and procedures
  • Maintains a safe and welcoming classroom environment
  • Remains on-site at school at all times while serving as a substitute teacher
  • Other duties as required

Requirements
  • Ability to work on-call/as-needed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with children
  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Professional appearance at all times
  • Punctuality is a plus
  • Strong Technology skills
  • Successfully complete the STEDI Sub Skills Training Course (if you have already completed this for another school/district during this school year we will only need a copy of the course completion certificate). Note: Course payment is the applicant's responsibility.

Preferences
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Georgia Teaching Certificate or Certifiable Educational Background
  • Two (2) years of experience with children in a school/classroom, childcare provider setting
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
