Job description

Position Summary: The Personal Shopper is responsible for the accurate and efficient shopping and processing of all orders received through Food City's Curbside Pickup service. Other responsibilities include professional communications with customers, various types of payment processing, and excellent order accuracy.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage customers with the goal of sharing Curbside Pickup's value proposition.
  • Accurately and efficiently processing online orders. This includes coordinating and prioritizing orders, shopping orders, packing orders, labeling orders, staging orders, and facilitating order pick-up.
  • Maintain accountability for freshness and accuracy of every order.
  • Communicate timely and professionally with customer regarding the state of their order, out of stock items, and offer acceptable substitution products.
  • Build personal relationships with customers and gain insight into their shopping preferences.
  • Properly maintain all transaction and daily shift reports.
  • Scan customer orders according to company policy and maintain accountability for tendered transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of desk and staging areas.
  • Be familiar with the Food City's website to be able to help answer any customer inquiries.
  • Communicate special needs and request of customers to Store Manager.
  • Become a Food City promotion expert by gaining a deep understanding of all marketing activities in order to educate customers on savings opportunities and up sell when possible.
  • Abide by all Loss Prevention audit procedures and ensure all Professional Shopper protocols are followed.
  • Know and follow all state and local laws regarding beer, wine, and/or tobacco sales.
  • Know and follow all federal and state laws regarding WIC handling.
  • Know and follow all coupon handling procedures, including digital coupons.
  • Follow company check cashing and tendering procedures.
  • Know and follow policies and procedures for Debit Card/Credit Card/Gift Card/Gift Certificate/EWIC/EBT Cash/EBT Food Stamp transactions.
  • Ensure efficient and courteous customer service to store locations in support of the company mission to "Run the Best Store in Town!"
  • Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Job Qualifications:
  • Exceptional customer service skills with an ability to maintain a customer-focused culture.
  • Ability to run a cash register, point of sale (POS) system, telephone, and other equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact with customers of various socioeconomic levels. This includes vendors, guests, and KVAT corporate representatives.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.
  • Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.
