The Job 

Join us for the Holiday Season!  

The Seasonal Personal Shopper will ensure a world-class shopping experience by facilitating the sale of luxury items to a global clientele in the FAO Schwarz Flagship Store. As a Personal Shopper, you will offer advice and guidance on products, process purchases, utilize the full scope of our omnichannel offerings, and cultivate an exceptional VIP guest experience. You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, embody a guest-first mentality, and problem-solve to ensure the guest’s satisfaction.  

The ideal candidate is a resourceful, charismatic, and energetic brand ambassador who can drive business in support of an existing client book. This is a crucial, supportive role at the front line of our luxury personal shopping business for the FAO Schwarz brand.

What You’ll Do   

Guest   

  • Demonstrate a passion for helping guests and building authentic connections.
  • Look for solutions to challenges to ensure the guest is delighted at each stage of the experience.
  • Represent the store selling vision and act as a role model to the team of what exceptional selling and client care should look like.
  • Have a superior knowledge of our products and apply this to our VIP Client book to preempt their needs.
  • Maintain FAO Schwarz brand standards within the store and at VIP events.
  • Cultivate a loyal client base of both local residents and visitors to the city to grow awareness of Personal Shopping services.
  • Support the Director of VIP Sales & Events to successfully deliver booked appointments and events.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our guest experience by identifying patterns within guest feedback and share this with the Director of VIP Sales and Events.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the local market knowledge by completing regular competitor reviews.  
  • Foster a genuine connection with the guests to effectively build relationships  

Team  

  • Build strong relationships across the team to support an exceptional experience for our VIP clients.   Build strong networks within the store team and the local area to establish additional working partnerships and opportunities to collaborate.  
  • Be able to manage your time effectively to maximize sales and prepare for consecutive client bookings.  

Store  

  • Achieve daily and weekly individual sales and KPI goals as assigned by the Director of VIP Sales and Events  
  • Maintain excellent department standards at all times, escalating any repair needs to the store team.  
  • Confidently speak to business performance and understand how to drive performance on key metrics and KPIs.  
  • Ensure loss prevention procedures and other administrative responsibilities are adhered to in order to reduce shrink and risk to the business.

What You Have   

  • 1+ years experience in a Personal Shopping role within a fast-paced premium retail or experience-based environment.  
  • An outgoing and engaging personality capable of building genuine rapport with our guests   
  • Excellent business acumen and ability to spot business trends and opportunities to improve performance.  
  • Experience of retail POS and CRM systems a plus.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a high-level attention to detail.   
  • Strong IT skills   
  • Flexible availability in line with a Flagship Retail environment across days, evenings and weekends.   
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and twisting and standing for long periods of time.
