About the Agency: East Mississippi State Hospital (EMSH) is a state-operated psychiatric hospital under the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals across the region. EMSH operates multiple service lines, including inpatient psychiatric services, substance abuse treatment, and long-term care facilities, and is committed to delivering quality care while maintaining accountability, compliance, and stewardship of public resources
About the Position: This position is with East Mississippi State Hospital and is located in Lauderdale County. The official MSPB classification title is Training Team Lead. The working title for this position is Professional Development Director.The incumbent will provide leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight for the Professional Development program at East Mississippi State Hospital. This position is responsible for coordinating training operations, supervising professional development staff, supporting curriculum and instructional activities, maintaining training compliance systems, and assisting with the development of policies and procedures that support employee development across the hospital.The incumbent will oversee new hire orientation, staff development programs, licensure and certification support processes, online learning administration, and required training initiatives for EMSH employees. This position also serves as a resource to leadership, committees, supervisors, and staff by monitoring training compliance, coordinating special programs, and helping ensure professional development functions are delivered effectively and in accordance with applicable EMSH, Mississippi Department of Mental Health, and Mississippi State Personnel Board standards.
What you'll need to be Successful: To be successful in this position, the applicant should demonstrate strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate should be able to supervise staff effectively, coordinate training programs and compliance activities, maintain accurate records and reports, and communicate clearly with employees, supervisors, leadership, committees, and outside stakeholders.The successful candidate should also demonstrate sound judgment, follow-through, adaptability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to staff development, regulatory compliance, and the overall effectiveness of EMSH training operations.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience.Hiring agency's preferred qualifications: The hiring agency prefers applicants with experience in training and development, staff supervision, curriculum coordination, healthcare education, compliance monitoring, professional licensure or certification tracking, online learning systems, and program administration. Preference may also be given to applicants with experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, institutional, or public sector environment.
