Job description


Our client is currently seeking a Production Support Specialist to support the continued development and execution of systems strategies focused on enabling business capabilities in support of claims, underwriting and service functions.

Responsibilities:

Working under the supervision of the Supervisor of Business Systems, the Production Support Specialist is expected to:

  • Assist with production support, including triaging, reporting defects, and collaborating with the business to identify workarounds
  • Gather information independently, carry out necessary research and provide an in-depth analysis to resolve production issues
  • Provide severity and scope analysis of issues, inquiries and requests
  • Maintain ownership until resolution of technical issue has been delivered
  • Organize multiple production issues, customer requests and inquiries from other sources
  • Provide support in defining system enhancement opportunities identified during production support interactions
  • Review and analyze user stories and assist with authoring user acceptance criteria and test steps in collaboration with the Program/Product Owner.
  • Execute test plans and test strategies as defined by the Systems team.
  • Execute Regression test plans as defined by the Systems team and assist in identifying gaps of unit testing test cases when regression items are found.
  • Evaluate configuration according to specifications
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams with detailed steps to recreate the defect or bug
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Identify where and when negative testing is required to ensure a change or enhancement is implemented correctly.

Position Requirements:

  • Requires a passion for operational excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Candidate must foster a collaborative/team approach to problem solving
  • Must enjoy a fast-paced and focused environment
  • Possess the ability to interact with the business community and various levels of management

  • Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Tester or similar Production Support Specialist role is a plus
  • Experience utilizing JIRA for full project management for test case execution, tracking and defect reporting and resolution.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing is a plus
  • Ability to document and troubleshoot errors
  • Working knowledge of test management software (e.g., qTest, Zephyr) and SQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage priorities
  • Natural ability to work under tight timelines

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Insurance Operations background a plus
