ABOUT THE ROLE
The engineering group designs, creates and validates the technical engineering specifications necessary to guide our production teams to manufacture quality industry leading homes and components for our customers in accordance with industry practices as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
The Product Engineer develops the structural designs and details for Cavco products in accordance with a variety of codes and engineering standards. This role includes testing of new assemblies and evaluation of materials to meet quality, aesthetics, durability, and longevity expectations. He/she Works independently on complex efforts, executing process steps, conducting analysis, problem solving, and delivering recommendations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Designs, develops, or modifies products, applying engineering and building principles.
  • Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to design.
  • Positions covered by this definition are characterized by the inclusion of work that requires an understanding of both theories and principles.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
  • Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal. •
  • Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.
  • Prepares or directs preparations of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
