This opportunity is available due to an upcoming retirement and will play a critical leadership role in mentoring and guiding the product development organization across innovation, product development, qualification, and full life cycle project management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and direct all engineering and program management activities following the Motus product development process
  • Lead/coach the product development team to ensure engineering risk is managed by utilizing engineering best practices and lessons learned. Develop robust designs for cut, sew, and wrap interior trim Motus products that can be manufactured efficiently and profitably
  • Successfully launch new products for Motus that meet key launch performance indicators
  • Improve year-over-year launch program financials through the product development process
  • Manage product development (launch) budgets fiscally through completion of program
  • Oversee the delivery of CAD models and product drawings accurately and on time to internal and external customers
  • Give input on product knowledge and customer insight within category team to ensure product development is aligned with all key customer requirements and meets financial measurements
  • Introduce and refine new product concepts through the development process ensuring that technical and quality standards are achieved while maximizing profitability
  • Developing team capability through task focused coaching to ensure maximum performance and development to their potential
  • Actively support targeted new business acquisition initiatives and projects by leading technical sales support efforts
  • Support program engineering efforts, manufacturing launch projects, and manufacturing improvement initiatives
  • Drive ongoing cost reduction activities without compromising product performance
  • Identify standard Bill of Material and Bill of Process for products
  • Work with costing to ensure competitive assumptions are maintained in our cost assumptions
  • Maintains a safe and effective prototype facility and manages prototype staff
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • A broad knowledge of automotive manufacturing, specifically interior soft trim components
  • 7+ years’ experience with product development
  • 5+ years’ experience in leadership role
  • Experience in design/CAD, plastic injection molding, and foam injection
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to follow up in a timely manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
