Job description

The Product Architect - Platform Engineering reporting to the Business & Technology Enablement organization within IT provides architectural leadership to ensure products and platforms are designed, developed, and delivered consistently across the enterprise. This role focuses on enabling scalable, reliable, and efficient platform capabilities through strong alignment with engineering teams and enterprise architecture standards.
The Product Architect works closely with product, platform, and engineering leaders to define architecture patterns, guide implementation, and ensure consistency across solutions. This role establishes a cohesive architectural vision for platform engineering, supporting modern DevOps practices and continuous delivery.
As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.
Responsibilities:
Platform Architecture
  • Define and maintain reference architectures for cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and data platforms
  • Ensure platform capabilities are designed for scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to align solutions with architecture standards and best practices
  • Guide platform design decisions to support long-term maintainability and flexibility
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps aligned to business priorities and enterprise strategy

DevOps Enablement
  • Define architecture patterns supporting CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement DevOps practices across platforms
  • Enable consistent development, deployment, and operational workflows
  • Promote reuse of platform services and standardized engineering approaches
  • Support adoption of tooling and processes that improve delivery speed and quality

Architecture Integration
  • Translate enterprise architecture standards into practical platform design patterns
  • Ensure alignment between platform architecture and the Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDL)
  • Provide architectural guidance across cloud, data, and application domain
  • Support integration of platform capabilities across business and enterprise systems

Architecture Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Architects across domains to ensure consistency in architecture approaches
  • Participate in architecture governance forums and technical design reviews
  • Support engineering teams in resolving complex architectural challenges
  • Provide input on key architectural decisions aligned to enterprise reference architecture

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform architecture and engineering effectiveness
  • Contribute to roadmaps supporting platform modernization and resilience
  • Support enterprise initiatives focused on improving delivery and operational maturity

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in security architecture, enterprise architecture, or platform engineering.
  • Experience designing secure architectures across cloud, infrastructure, and enterprise platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles including identity, network security, encryption, and data protection.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps and secure software development practices.
  • Familiarity with Defense industry compliance topics such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, ITAR, DFARS, and others.
  • Experience with firewalling, IDS/IPS systems, VPN technologies, DNS security, SEIM systems.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, and other industry-leading vendors for network technology.
  • Architecture and engineering experience with cloud networking technologies such as AWS Transit Gateway, Azure VWAN, DirectConnect/ExpressRoute, cloud VPN, VPCs/VNETs, firewalling, WAFs, routing technologies, load balancing, DNS services, etc.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or government.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, Zero Trust Architecture, and secure cloud architectures.
  • Experience integrating security controls into engineering platforms and pipelines.
  • Strong collaboration experience working across cybersecurity and engineering teams.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $189,761.74 - $260,922.39. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
