Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Software Application Architect to provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and implementing scalable enterprise applications. This role is responsible for defining application architecture, driving cloud-native solutions, mentoring development teams, and leading software modernization initiatives using Java, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise software solutions.
• Plan and deliver complex, long-term projects involving multiple teams and external dependencies.
• Oversee application architecture, implementation, maintenance, support, and technical debt management.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performance Java-based applications and services.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to evaluate and adopt new technologies.
• Establish architecture standards, coding guidelines, and code review best practices.
• Communicate architectural decisions and technical strategies to engineering teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
• Drive innovation through modern cloud-native, containerized, and serverless application architectures.
• Mentor developers and provide technical leadership across Agile development teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement enterprise solutions.
• Develop RESTful web services and enterprise integrations.
• Support CI/CD implementation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud deployment strategies.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
• 2-3+ years of hands-on experience in application architecture and solution design.
• Strong experience designing and deploying cloud-based solutions using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience guiding development teams from development through testing, deployment, and production support.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience as an Architect, Technical Lead, Consultant, or Software Engineer with hands-on implementation responsibilities.
• Strong proficiency in Java SE, Java EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring MVC.
• Strong understanding of Java programming concepts and best practices.
• Experience developing RESTful web services using the Spring Framework.
• Experience with Git, Maven and/or Gradle.
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated expertise designing and implementing solutions using AWS and/or Azure services.
• Strong SQL development and database management experience.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with FHIR, HL7, AWS Healthcare Services, and healthcare data standards.
• Experience developing healthcare or public health data pipelines.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including Databricks.
• Experience developing container-based and serverless applications.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Amazon SQS, Kafka, IBM MQ, or Amazon Kinesis.
• Experience coaching and mentoring development teams while promoting reusable software components and engineering best practices.
