Their work often involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for product enhancements, optimize user experiences, and support strategic planning. Product Analysts play a critical role in ensuring that products meet both business objectives and customer needs.

How does a Product Analyst typically collaborate with product managers and engineering teams?

Product Analysts play a key role in bridging the gap between data insights and product development. They work closely with product managers to define success metrics, analyze user behavior, and identify opportunities for product improvements. Additionally, they collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that data tracking is implemented correctly and that product features align with user needs. This collaboration often involves regular meetings, sharing dashboards or reports, and providing data-driven recommendations that guide both roadmap planning and feature prioritization.

What Is a Product Analyst?

A product analyst assists in the development of new products for a business. You research market data to determine the types of products consumers demand, then you calculate the costs to develop and market the product to determine potential price points. You will serve as a critical bridge between business context, advanced analytics, and analytics engineering, translating ambiguous product and business questions into robust analytical approaches and the underlying data structures needed to support them.

  • Partner closely with Product Analysts and Data Scientists to translate analytical requirements into well-structured datasets and metrics
  • Contribute to the maturation of analytics engineering practices within Product Analytics, including scalable dataset design, metric logic, and operational support for analytical data assets
  • Apply advanced analytics and predictive modeling to product sales, usage, and customer data to inform strategy, pricing, and growth
  • Create executive ready reports, and deep analyses that clearly communicate analytical insights, limitations, and recommendations to stakeholders across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders - Business Managers, Product Managers, and other internal stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches
  • Partner with technical leads and cross-functional data teams to support the evolution of Product Analytics data capabilities within Microsoft Fabric and related platforms

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in product analytics, advanced data analysis, or business analytics roles, with a strong foundation in analytical reasoning, statistics, and data modeling
  • Demonstrated experience building and supporting curated analytical datasets and data models used by analysts or data scientists for downstream analysis
  • Proven ability to translate strategic and ambiguous questions into analytical frameworks and model requirements
  • Experience working with large, multi-source product usage or telemetry-style data; ensuring reliability of analytical datasets, including data validation, QA and reconciliation
  • Strong SQL scripting for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analytics-ready dataset creation
  • Solid knowledge of Python or similar analytical programming languages for modeling and analysis
  • Familiarity with analytics enablement concepts, including semantic models, reusable metric logic, self-service dataset support, and scheduled data workflows or pipeline operationalization
  • Advanced Proficiency in Power BI (including analytical datasets and complex measures) and Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills; ability to adapt communication style and message based on audience (peers, stakeholders, executives)
  • Bachelor's degree in business analytics, statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or a related field
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this posting. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Recommended Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting analytics and predictive modeling for software products
  • Hands-on experience building predictive, forecasting, or scenario-based models
