Job description

QuickCable is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Buyer to join our Purchasing team. This entry-to-early-career role supports the procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies (such as copper, plastics, packaging, and MRO items) needed to keep production running smoothly. The Junior Buyer will work closely with Senior Buyers, Planning, and Manufacturing to place and track purchase orders, manage supplier communication, and help ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery of materials.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their supply chain or purchasing career to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and grow into a broader buying or category management role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, issue, and track purchase orders for raw materials, components, and indirect supplies based on MRP/ERP-generated requirements
  • Monitor open orders and proactively follow up with suppliers to confirm lead times, resolve delays, and expedite shipments as needed
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including pricing, lead times, and vendor information within the ERP system
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, receiving, and invoicing (working with Accounts Payable and Receiving)
  • Support supplier communication regarding quality issues, delivery schedules, and order changes
  • Help track and report on key metrics such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and inventory levels
  • Assist Senior Buyers with supplier evaluations, quotes, and sourcing activities for new or alternate materials
  • Collaborate with Planning, Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to align purchasing activity with production schedules
  • Help identify opportunities for cost savings, lead time reduction, and process improvement
  • Maintain compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 0โ€“2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, planning, or a related supply chain function
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred:

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, industrial, or electrical/cable component supply chains
  • Basic understanding of procurement principles (POs, lead times, MOQs, incoterms)
  • APICS/ASCM coursework or certification (or interest in pursuing one)
What QuickCable Offers
  • Competitive pay and benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k))
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • On-the-job training and mentorship from experienced buyers
  • Opportunity for growth within Purchasing and Supply Chain
  • Stable, established U.S. manufacturer with a strong industry reputation
