Job description

ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join our premier client's growing Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain organization onsite in either Seattle, Nashville, Houston, or Arlington. This is a unique 6-month contract opportunity to help build a new business line from the ground up by developing sourcing strategies for highly technical material handling and automation systems. You'll work with engineering, project management, finance, operations, and supplier partners to create scalable procurement processes that support future expansion while driving innovation, cost optimization, and supplier performance. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and enjoys building procurement strategies from scratch while influencing high-impact business decisions.


Key Activities

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category management strategies for capital equipment and material handling systems.
  • Lead complex sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships while improving supplier performance, quality, and innovation.
  • Develop cost models and commercial strategies to optimize total cost of ownership.
  • Partner closely with engineering, project management, finance, operations, and implementation teams throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Influence supplier roadmaps, manufacturing capabilities, and technology decisions to support long-term business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional procurement initiatives supporting large-scale infrastructure and automation projects.
  • Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, pricing, and industry developments to guide sourcing decisions.
  • Develop procurement metrics, supplier scorecards, and reporting to track savings, compliance, and performance.
  • Build scalable procurement processes and supply chain strategies for a rapidly growing business.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or category management experience.
  • Proven experience managing capital procurement or large equipment categories.
  • Strong contract negotiation and supplier relationship management experience.
  • Experience developing category sourcing strategies from planning through execution.
  • Cost modeling and commercial analysis experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, operations, finance, and project management teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building procurement processes or supply chains from the ground up.
  • Background supporting industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing equipment, or material handling systems.
  • Experience with eSourcing platforms, procurement systems, and contract management tools.
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • CPSM, CSCP, CIPS, or similar procurement certification.
  • Previous experience supporting large-scale capital projects.
