Morskate Manufacturing is a family-run structural steel manufacturer located in Ponoka, Alberta. Specializing in structural, agricultural and custom orders, we take pride in the ability to be adaptable and flexible when designing and building orders to meet the customers exact requirements.

Position Summary

Morskate Manufacturing is expanding in a big way! We're adding 90,000+ sq. ft. to our facility and investing in exciting new technology as we continue to grow. With this expansion comes an exciting opportunity—we are currently seeking a motivated Procurement Assistant
to join our growing team.


Reporting to the Procurement & Inventory Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials are accurately estimated, sourced, and delivered on time. You’ll work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders to keep procurement activities aligned with project timelines and cost targets.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting Project Managers/ management in estimating, pricing & ordering materials for jobs as per Job specs and in compliance with company objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and look for new options as needed.
  • Ensure Materials are on schedule for projects and sales schedules are met with direct involvement with Project Manager
  • Assist in control of job costs, materials and installation of projects by communicating with suppliers.
  • Improve process and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement policies and procedures to maximize output and organization of projects
  • Assist with third party outsourcing
  • Discuss strategic input and implementation with director
  • Ensure communication with accounting for prompt and complete billing information
  • Ensure communication with Suppliers, Project Managers & Shipping/Receiving to expedite delivery of projects in a timely manner

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Strong administrative skills and proven experience utilizing MS Office Suite
  • Effective communication skills to provide necessary information in a timely and accurate manner

  • Ability to anticipate business needs within the Procurement team and plan accordingly
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain records for personnel, schedules, and changing priorities
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage employee engagement to achieve productivity goals


Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Active participation in company safety program
  • Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE (when necessary) and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of safe work practices and the ability to promote and enforce safety rules and procedures
  • Communication, monitoring and maintaining compliance with company safety rules, policies, practices, procedures and applicable legislation
