Pediatric Occupational Therapist (ADHD, Executive Functioning & Brain-Based Approaches)
Ability and Beyond Integrated Therapyย
Most OT jobs will keep you comfortable. This one will help you grow.
If youโre looking for predictable sessions and routine treatment plans, this probably isnโt the right fit.
But if youโre the kind of OT who wants to understand whatโs really going onโand help kids function in real lifeโฆ keep reading.
Youโll work with kids and teens who are bright, capable, and still strugglingโoften with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, learning differences, and sensory processing differences.
Theyโve often been told theyโll โfigure it outโ or โgrow out of it.โ
They havenโt.
This is where your work starts to matter.
Youโll learn how to:
- Identify whatโs actually driving a childโs challenges
- Connect sensory, motor, cognitive, and regulation systems
- Use both foundational and advanced, brain-based approaches
- Think and adapt in real timeโnot rely on templates
Exposure research backed approaches such as sensory integration, reflex integration, neural timing, ocular motor/visual processing, and photo biomodulation
What youโll actually do:
- Work 1:1 with children, teens, and young adults
- Address sensory processing, executive functioning, and emotional regulation
- Help improve focus, organization, follow-through, and independence
- Coach parents who are overwhelmed and need clear, practical answers
- Build treatment plans that translate into real-life progress
Youโll thrive here if you:
- Want to be really good at what you do
- Are curious about how the brain processes and organizes information
- Enjoy solving problems that arenโt straightforward
- Are open to learning beyond traditional OT approaches
This may not be the right fit if:
- You prefer highly routine, predictable sessions
- You rely heavily on standard protocols
- Youโre not interested in being challenged or growing
What youโll gain:
- Strong skills in sensory integration and executive functioning
- Experience with advanced, processing-based approaches
- Sharper clinical reasoning that applies to real-life function
- Confidence working with more complex cases
There are plenty of OT jobs where you maintain your skills. This is where you build them.
