Job Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer

Actalent is currently hiring an urgent Manufacturing Process Engineer to support a local supplier. This assignment will ideally start in the next few weeks, so urgently available talent will be prioritized as long as they are qualified.

Job Description

The Process Engineer optimizes production processes with a strong focus on safety, quality, cost efficiency, and lead times. This role is responsible for controlling process variability, leading improvement initiatives, and sharing manufacturing process knowledge through training and guidance. The Process Engineer also plays a key role in production transfers, new product introductions, and implementation of new manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Study process disturbances related to safety, quality, costs, and lead times to define and implement targeted improvements and optimizations.
  • Analyze the root causes of process variability and implement corrective actions to reduce or eliminate them.
  • Define, create, and maintain up-to-date technical documentation related to manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure all training documentation accurately specifies required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meets customer specifications throughout the production process.
  • Support the design and fabrication of fixtures needed in production for new and existing products, including error-proofing the process (Poka-Yoke).
  • Share process knowledge with production teams and supporting functions, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Review and disposition nonconforming material reports (DMRs) and propose improvements to reduce variability throughout production.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production process, using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Implement new manufacturing equipment, including overseeing installation and conducting technical validation.
  • Initiate and maintain risk analysis tools such as X-FMEA to identify and mitigate process risks.
  • Participate in the New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle, collaborating closely with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and robust processes.
  • Analyze and execute engineering change orders, coordinating with cross-functional teams and ensuring accurate implementation.
  • Produce technical files that support both design and manufacturing needs.
  • Organize and lead meetings with cross-functional teams to discuss and implement engineering changes.
  • Verify technical information related to engineering or process changes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in and help drive continuous improvement projects focused on process performance and product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments impacted by process and engineering changes, ensuring alignment and clarity.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 6+ years of relevant work experience in process engineering or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Experience in process improvement and process validation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and collaboration with design engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 standards and quality system requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience producing technical files and documentation to support design and manufacturing needs.
  • Ability to organize and lead meetings focused on engineering changes and process improvements.
  • Skill in verifying technical information related to engineering or process changes for accuracy and completeness.
  • Knowledge of risk analysis methods, including FMEA-based approaches and DMAIC methodology.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all departments involved in production and engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools to support design and fixture development.
  • Experience in process engineering for manufacturing, including error-proofing techniques such as Poka-Yoke.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and risk analysis methods used in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to support and contribute to cross-functional teams during engineering changes and NPI activities.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating process performance and identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Experience working within structured quality frameworks and continuous improvement cultures.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role working Monday through Friday. The position is embedded in a hands-on manufacturing environment, collaborating closely with production, design engineering, and quality teams. The work involves interacting with production equipment, fixtures, and technical documentation, and may require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as specified in training and process documents. The environment supports structured continuous improvement, technical collaboration, and adherence to established quality standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
