Deputy Clerk - Circuit Court
Department: Circuit Court Clerk's Office
Position Type: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Pay: $45,562.77
NATURE OF WORK
The Deputy Clerk performs entry-level clerical and administrative work in the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. This position is responsible for processing legal documents, maintaining official court records, providing customer service to the public, attorneys, and court personnel, and performing a variety of clerical functions essential to the efficient operation of the Clerk's Office. Work requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work within established court procedures and deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process, review, and file legal documents in accordance with court procedures and applicable laws.
  • Maintain and organize court records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Enter, update, and index case information within the court's record management system.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and the general public.
  • Calculate, collect, receipt, and reconcile court filing fees, taxes, fines, and other applicable payments.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding court procedures and available public records.
  • Prepare files and documentation for court proceedings.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate electronic and paper records.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct visitors appropriately.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, scanners, copiers, and printers.
  • Perform general clerical duties including filing, copying, scanning, and document preparation.
