The Process Engineer will own, lead and change: scaling operations for repeatable growth, strengthening KPI discipline and GEMBA cadence, institutionalizing continuous improvement, improving manufacturability and NPI readiness, advancing automation and future-state technology, and helping build a stronger problem-solving culture across the organization.
This role goes beyond maintaining current processes; it is expected to help strengthen Magline’s manufacturing operating system for repeatable scale, greater agility, and smarter decision making. The Process Engineer will improve throughput, reduce cost, increase process capability, and build disciplined repeatable production methods that support both current operational needs and future-state manufacturing strategies, including greater use of digital tools, connected systems, and AI-enabled interfaces to improve visibility, responsiveness and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Ownership, Standardization amp; Scalable Operations
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve standardized work instructions for key production processes
  • Drive process consistency, repeatability, and capability across shifts, departments, and product lines to support predictable output and repeatable scale
  • Audit process adherence, identify gaps, and partner with supervisors and operators to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain and improve accurate routing, labor standards, methods of manufacture, and process data within ERP/MRP system to reflect actual production performance
  • Establish and sustain process discipline, visual controls, and performance visibility that reinforce accountability and enable faster problem detection
  • Identify opportunities to simplify flow, reduce variation, and improve production readiness as volume, mix and complexity increases
Production Support, Structured Problem Solving amp; Culture Building
  • Provide real-time technical and process support to production teams to stabilize output, resolve issues, and minimize disruption to safety, quality and delivery
  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring process, quality, labor efficiency and material flow issues
  • Work directly with operators, supervisors and support functions to improve execution, eliminate waste, and strengthen ownership at point of use
  • Translate recurring issues into permanent process improvements through standardization, error-proofing, training and process controls
  • Champion a stronger problem-solving culture by teaching and reinforcing disciplined issue identification, containment, root cause analysis and follow through
  • Escalate systemic issues with data, clarity and recommendations – helping leadership prioritize the highest impact operational opportunities
New Product Introduction (NPI) amp; Engineering Change Ownership
  • Lead or co-lead the manufacturing readiness of new product introductions and engineering changes
  • Partner with Product Engineering early to evaluate manufacturability, labor content, process flow, tooling implications and production risk before release
  • Define and validate manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, labor standards, routings and documentation prior to launch or release
  • Own manufacturing readiness for assigned product changes, including standard work, operator training, material flow, workstation readiness and process stability
  • Participate in design reviews and provide clear feedback on manufacturability, cost, quality and operational risk
  • Support pilot builds, first-run activities, line changeovers, and launch stabilization to ensure successful transition from design intent to repeatable production
Cost, Capacity amp; BOM/Routing Integrity
  • Reduce manufacturing cost through process optimization, waste elimination, improved labor efficiency and better alignment between process design and actual execution
  • Own and continuously improve costed BOM accuracy, routing integrity, labor assumptions and methods of manufacture to support sound operational and financial decision-making
  • Improve cycle times, throughput, capacity utilization and equipment effectiveness within assigned areas
  • Use production data and process observations to identify bottlenecks, hidden factory losses and constraints that limit repeatable scale
  • Support make-vs-buy, capital justification and process improvement recommendations with clear cost, throughput, quality and risk logic
Quality, Compliance amp; Process Capability
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards, safety expectations and applicable regulatory compliance
  • Partner with Quality to investigate process related defects, drive corrective actions and improve process robustness
  • Implement and sustain mistake-proofing (poka-yoke), process controls and standard methods that reduce variation and improve first-pass yield methods where appropriate to strengthen process discipline
  • Help establish preventive controls that reduce repeat issues and improve confidence in process performance over time
Equipment, Tooling, Automation amp; Future-State Capability
  • Evaluate, specify and support implementation of tooling, fixtures, equipment and process improvements that improve safety, quality, capacity and repeatability
  • Ensure equipment and tooling support safe, efficient, ergonomic and robust production processes
  • Develop or improve preventive maintenance guidelines in collaboration with Maintenance to support uptime and process stability
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing capability through automation, better tooling, digital process controls, error-proofing and smarter workstation design
  • Support equipment trials, process validation and implementation of future-state manufacturing improvements
Cross-Functional Collaboration amp; Leadership
  • Work closely with Product Engineering to improve manufacturability, reduce launch risk and align product design with production capabilities
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Planning and Operations on material flow, inventory strategy and production readiness
  • Support and reinforce training of operators and team leads on new or updated processes, standard work and process controls
  • Influence cross-functional teams to align around practical, sustainable process improvements rather than short-term workarounds
  • Communicate clearly with leadership on risks, priorities, countermeasures and progress against key operational objectives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success in a hands-on production environment with responsibility for process improvement, troubleshooting and implementation
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; Epicor/Kinetic experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of CAD and manufacturing support tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience supporting or leading new product introduction, engineering changes, or manufacturing readiness activities
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methods, process controls, root cause analysis and lean manufacturing tools
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and balance daily production support with longer-term operational improvement
