Job description

Principal Associate, Process Manager - Small Business Bank

Retail Bank Product Operations team is seeking a high performing Principal Process Manager that will serve as the subject matter expert on processes that improve business efficiency and drive results. This person must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and have the ability to adapt to change quickly. As the Principal Process Manager will deliver flawlessly executed standards and controls for critical business processes that directly impact customers, front line associates and improve our risk posture. You will monitor data trends to measure effectiveness and install necessary benchmarks or thresholds to ensure data integrity. You collaborate with other process owners to educate and gain buy-in from key stakeholders concerning the utilization of process to ensure appropriate execution each and every time.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering across product, technology, operations, and risk organizations, with the ability to navigate complex cross-functional initiatives and translate business needs into actionable process or execution plans.

  • Navigating through technical delivery environments (e.g., system implementations, platform migrations, Jira/Agile workflows, defect management, or operational readiness activities) to support partnership with product and engineering teams.

  • Demonstrate curiosity and aptitude to learn about the current regulatory environment and internal policies within Small Business Bank Product and the Enterprise

  • Support procedure reviews and L2 document updates

  • Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments and manage stakeholder expectations effectively

  • Identify ways to improve and streamline business well managed processes

  • Provide subject matter expertise on being well managed when representing the department in projects and other meetings

  • Document processes and projects (creating reports, presentations, and diagrams)

  • Assist in the design and produce metrics used to measure efficiency and effectiveness of L2 processes and controls

  • Partnering cross-functionally to effectively drive delivery of moderate to large complex projects, leveraging strong problem solving and influencing skills

  • Ensure issues are properly reported to correct L2 and remediated appropriately to reduce outstanding risk or performance breakdowns

  • Manage work across organizational lines (Product, Design,Tech) to achieve results and manage competing priorities

  • Demonstrate problem-solving and analysis skills with attention to detail

  • Exhibit a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work

  • Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands

  • Display strong consulting and collaboration skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Process Management or Risk Management

  • At least 2 year of Project Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience working in a cross-functional environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • Business Process Management Certification

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • 1+ years of experience working in an Agile workplace environment

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Principal Process Manager


Richmond, VA: $98,900 - $112,900 for Principal Process Manager










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
