Summary
The Manager, Manufacturing Process Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the work of designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Responsible for understanding the customers technical roadmap and identifying and managing all new customer-specific process development projects.
  • Manage technical aspects for all new customer-specific process development projects.
  • Develop the scope of all technical work, coordinate the team, direct work assignments and assist with problem resolution for the full customer product life cycle support for all manufacturing technical issues related to the customers product(s) from product conception to product obsolescence.
  • Evaluate potential manufacturing impact for each design concept.
  • Responsible for the best practice standard development, participate in Industry organizations for developing the standards and provide training and application support globally.
  • Set yearly plans and goals for their department and give direction on expected performance and provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.
  • Design and deploy the continuous improvement (CI) goals and strategies for the site/function through the application of CI principles, systems, methods and tools
  • Focus CI efforts to flow value to customers, both internal and external
  • Coordinate and oversee CI activity for the site/function
  • Facilitate/mentor lean and six sigma improvement activity to improve the flow within value streams
  • Work closely with all business leaders to grow a culture of continuous improvement

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Project Management - Ability to manage/lead complex, multiple line engineering projects that may also involve other functions. Demonstrate solid understanding of the technical, financial and people aspects of the project. Able to create a project/change management plan and ensure that the project is delivered within the assigned time and budget. Ability to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plans
Leadership - Demonstrate "People & Team Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives.
Financial Acumen / Business Planning - Ability to create financial plans for your projects, align them internally with your line of management and other functions and externally if needed. Create project plans, profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis, able to recognize barriers and mitigate profitability risks. Fully knowledgeable about internal and external financial reporting, accounting and tax requirements relevant to your area of expertise.
The following competencies may also be required: Coaching/Mentoring; Communication/Negotiation/Presentation; Creative Problem Solving; Customer Interaction/Stakeholder Management; Quality & Lean; Working Effectively with Others; D/PFMEA; 8D/Corrective Action; Equipment Safety; Design of Experiments (DOE).
Continuous Improvement - Demonstrated experience of identifying the need for and implementing process improvements that resulted insignificant gains in operational efficiencies.

Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • 7 to 10 years of related experience; experience in similar job roles
