MAPS Center for Learning
Mankato Area Public Schools has a position available for a Print Shop Supervisor beginning as soon as possible. This is a full-time, 12-month non-affiliated position. The Print Shop Supervisor oversees daily print shop operations, production workflows, and finishing services for District staff. This role manages incoming job orders via digital intake systems, operates and maintains modern high-speed production printing and finishing equipment, manages inventory/vendor relationships, and ensures cost-effective production. Additionally, the supervisor guides district staff on layout/prepress setups, copyright compliance, and cost estimates.
Summary of Duties:
  • Makes day-to-day managerial decisions in running the print shop; prioritizes incoming orders; oversees the work of temporary workers; monitors all supplies and costs of materials; orders all specialty papers for the district (e.g. 11 x 17, carbonless paper, colored paper tabs, labels, and chip board, etc); works with service technicians; works with vendors and Director of Educational Technology and Information Systems regarding replacement equipment and submits recommendations for same.
  • Prints materials for all district staff; operates high speed copiers; does finishing work on printed materials using drill press, collator, booklet maker, jogger, folding machine, padding presses, binder, and laminators; maintains finishing equipment.
  • Prepares, corrects, and improvises original documents, forms and artwork by using image editing software on the computer and scanner. Works with staff regarding print requests by phone or emails; answers phone and assists walk-in customers; maintains files for all district-wide curricular materials.
  • Calculates the costs of government-funded print jobs and submits the costs to the Business Office.
  • Monitors and prevents infringements of copyright laws.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of print shop equipment and computers
