Katten is a full-service law firm with approximately 650 attorneys in locations across the United States and in London and Shanghai. Clients seeking sophisticated, high-value legal services turn to Katten for counsel locally, nationally and internationally. The firm's core areas of practice include corporate, financial markets and funds, restructuring, intellectual property, litigation, real estate, structured finance and securitization, transactional tax planning, private credit and private wealth. Katten represents public and private companies in numerous industries, as well as a number of government and nonprofit organizations and individuals.
Pricing Analyst
Under the general direction of the Director of Revenue and in accordance with established Firm policies and procedures, the Pricing Analyst supports the Firm's strategic pricing, profitability, and financial analysis initiatives. This role partners with Finance, Business Development, Billing, and attorneys to develop pricing analyses, financial models, and alternative fee arrangement proposals that support the Firm's pricing strategy and client service objectives.
The Pricing Analyst gathers, validates, and organizes financial and matter data, prepares pricing models and reports, assists with Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and client pricing proposals, supports the monitoring of alternative fee arrangements, and contributes to the development of pricing tools, reporting, and processes. The Pricing Analyst demonstrates sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and maintains the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality in all client and Firm matters.
Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex). This role requires 2 days of onsite presence each week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude, but may not be limited to, the following. Other duties may be requested and/or assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.   • Serve as the first point of contact for basic pricing-related requests, standard reporting and data inquiries from attorneys, and internal business professional departments.
  • Prepare pricing models to evaluate proposed fee arrangements, pricing strategies, and alternative pricing scenarios.
  • Assist with preparing pricing narratives and financial responses for Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and client proposals, including pricing methodologies, staffing structures, efficiency initiatives, and financial monitoring approaches.
  • Collaborate with Finance and other business departments to gather and validate the financial and matter data needed to support pricing analyses and proposals.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports and trend analyses on pricing methodologies, alternative fee arrangements, and pricing adoption across the Firm.
  • Monitor, gather, analyze, and report on information from external pricing, legal technology, and market intelligence platforms to support pricing strategies and alternative fee arrangements.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of pricing templates, financial models, reporting tools, and other resources that support pricing proposals and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Support the monitoring of alternative fee arrangements and other pricing agreements by preparing reports and collaborating with Finance and other stakeholders to evaluate financial performance.
  • Participate in the testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of pricing, proposal, and financial reporting systems and technology tools.
  • Maintain pricing documentation, financial models, and supporting data to promote accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Firm standards.
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, with one or more years of relevant work experience. Knowledge of general accounting principles and advanced knowledge of Elite, Aderant, CMS is desired but not required. Demonstrated experience supporting partners or attorneys is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word is required.
  • Analytical skills requiring an aptitude for detail and accuracy to conduct analysis of complex client billing problems, reconciliation of billing related issues, ability to multi-task with numerous reports simultaneously.
  • Exhibit high degree of initiative to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment, and ensure work is completed within strict deadlines. Proactive with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside contacts.
  • Excellent organizational skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish information in report/Excel format, written correspondence, e-mail, or verbally.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Ability to act independently and make decisions within scope of the position's responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply mathematical concepts when computing, reconciling balances, verifying numerical data, processing moderately complex client pricing proposals and preparing various reports.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of reading, writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading, and formatting to interpret source data, prepare moderately complex client billing, proofread material for grammatical, typographical, spelling errors, and perform file maintenance.
  • Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute files, written documentation, or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Work occasionally requires more than 37.5 hours per week (35 hours per week in New York) to perform the essential duties of the position. Ability to work overtime when required at month-end and year-end to process heavy volume of client billing.

The annualized salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
