PARENT SUPPORT AND PREVENTION SPECIALIST

Job Summary:The Parent Support and Prevention Specialist works directly with families to provide supportive services, resources, and parenting education designed to strengthen family stability and prevent children from entering formal foster care. This role focuses on empowering parents, promoting child well-being, and connecting families to community-based services tailored to their individual needs.

Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receive and managecaregiverreferralsfromleadership, deliveringtimelyassistanceto support effective care for children within program guidelines.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously whilemaintainingfrequent, open communication with direct supervisorregardingservices delivered, concerns or questions.
  • Ensure the specific reporting and procedural requirements of the program are used consistently and accuratelyandmaintainup-to-date documentation in the client database system.
  • Providecaregiverswith information, referrals, community resources to improve caregiver access to family resources(i.e.basic need items, money to pay for bills, tutoring resources, recreational activities, scholarships, etc.)in a timely mannerwhile implementing trauma informed care practices.
  • Guidecaregivers inidentifying, applying for, and securing eligible benefits, ensuringtimelyconnection to appropriate resources.
  • Consistently and proactively communicate and meet with clients per program guidelines.
  • Scheduleweekly in-home visits, complete caregiver assessments, and deliver parenting curriculum moduleswhile ensuring compliance with programguidelines.
  • Create aplan,in partnership,withcaregiversto meet identified needs.
  • Enhancecaregiverssocial support systems (i.e.professional agencies, support groups, parent groups, professional helpers,extended family,etc.).
  • Submitmonth-end client progress reports to supervisor by the third business day of the new month.
  • Develop andmaintainrelationships with keystakeholdersand community partners to create strong partnerships to enable a continual flow of regularly received referrals. Participate in outreach efforts as assigned. Attend community meetings as needed.
  • Participate inongoing meetings/professional memberships and trainings as required by the Program Manager.
  • Activelycontribute both independently and as part of a team;participatein team meetings and collaborate with colleagues acrossdepartments.
  • Maintain strong, open communication with direct supervisorregardingservices delivered, concerns or questions.

  • Bachelors Degreeinsocial work(preferred) or in related human services field.Experience preferred.
  • Experience working with marginalized communities with an understanding of the barriers thatimpactunderserved communities. Quicklyestablishrapport and build trust.
  • Adaptable and proactive self-starter who effectively multitasks whilemaintainingstrong attention to detail and organization to meet allobjectivesand deadlines.
