What are PowerPoint presentations?

PowerPoint presentations are digital slide shows created using Microsoft PowerPoint, a popular software used for creating visual and text-based presentations. These presentations typically consist of a series of slides that can include text, images, charts, videos, and animations to convey information to an audience. PowerPoint presentations are widely used in business, education, and other professional settings to organize and communicate ideas clearly and effectively. They can be projected during meetings, shared online, or printed as handouts. The versatility and user-friendly interface of PowerPoint make it a standard tool for presenters around the world.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PowerPoint Presentation Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PowerPoint Presentation Specialist, you need strong skills in graphic design, storytelling, and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, often supported by a background in communications, design, or marketing. Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint add-ins, and template management systems is typically required. Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to communicate complex information visually are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure presentations are engaging, clear, and effectively support business objectives.

What are some common challenges PowerPoint Presentation Specialists face when collaborating with subject matter experts?

PowerPoint Presentation Specialists often collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex information into clear and visually engaging slides. A common challenge is bridging the gap between technical content and audience-friendly visuals, which requires active listening and iterative feedback. Specialists may also need to manage tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and consistency across slides. Building strong communication skills and setting clear expectations with SMEs can help overcome these challenges and produce impactful presentations.

Job description

The Opportunity:
At Allied Sports, presentations don't just support the work-they sell the idea. We're looking for a Presentation Designer who understands that great design is about clarity, storytelling, and impact. Someone who can turn complex ideas into compelling visuals that are refined, strategic, built to sell, and impossible to ignore. And a systems thinker who knows how to fully utilize PowerPoint to build scalable, branded templates for many use cases.
This role will report to the VP of Creative services and will support teams across Partnership Solutions, Experiential, Partnership Marketing, Partnership Development, Hospitality, and Talent, and play a critical role in shaping how Allied Sports shows up to clients, partners, and prospects.
As a Presentation Designer at Allied Sports, you'll be the go-to PowerPoint specialist. You'll be behind the visuals that power pitches, win rooms, and spark conversations, you'll help shape how ideas are communicated and sold, and you'll help determine company presentation guidelines and processes.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders including the creative team, business development leads, and executive leadership to create high-impact credentials decks, pitch presentations, that tell a clear, compelling story.
  • Supporting Account teams with client-facing presentation needs as required.
  • Building out PowerPoint templates that are easily editable and can be implemented by employees outside of Creative Services
  • Communicating how teams can fully utilize PowerPoint and the templates that you create.

You'll be trusted to raise the bar-making presentations clearer, more engaging, and unmistakably on-brand.
Responsibilities:
  • This role will be dedicated to bringing the Allied Sports brand - and client brands when needed - to life across PowerPoint presentations, PowerPoint presentation templates, and related sales materials
  • Design smart, visually striking layouts that simplify complex information and enhance storytelling
  • Use provided outlines and data to create compelling narratives with supporting visuals
  • Transform text-heavy or cluttered slides into cleanly formatted slides with clear hierarchy and persuasive visuals
  • Create charts, tables, and data visualizations that are easy to understand and aesthetically strong
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure decks feels polished, intentional, and client-ready
  • Maintain image and visual standards across all presentation formats
  • Support creative pitches, creating mockups and visual assets across digital, social, and print when needed
  • Maintain a company presentation kit with a brand system in PowerPoint utilizing the Slide Master and brand styles that adhere to our brand guidelines.
  • Maintain a library of branded PowerPoint templates with content examples and create new templates as needed.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years of experience designing presentation decks and creative assets, ideally within a creative, sponsorship, or experiential agency
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating presentation design, PowerPoint proficiency, and core graphic design skills
  • Advanced knowledge of slide masters, layouts, themes, and placeholders.
  • A visual storyteller who knows how to connect the dots-matching imagery and language to build momentum and meaning.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides with a proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite for Mac (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Exceptional organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • A commitment to excellence, flexibility, and doing what it takes to deliver standout work
  • Curious about design trends, presentation storytelling, and creative communication

Considerations:
  • Base salary: $75-85k annually
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office (Tues-Thurs) and 2 days remote (Mon & Fri)
  • Open to a fully remote schedule for potential candidates outside the NYC area who have substantial experience and skills

Base salary represents the salary range that Allied Sports, in good faith, might be willing to pay for this job at the time of this posting. Actual base salary depends on several factors, including market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), and level of responsibility. Allied Sports expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Allied Sports would consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range only in truly exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position.
Allied Sports launched in 2019 with a singular mission - to lead modern marketers in the undeniable shift from Sponsor to Storyteller™. Today, we are an independent, full-service agency operating from the Allied Global Marketing network. Led by industry veterans with a rookie spirit, our award-winning team helps buyers and sellers in sports find, negotiate, and activate high-performing partnerships. Sports Business Journal named Allied Sports one of the Best Places to Work in Sports in 2023 and 2024, and Front Office Sports named the agency among the Best Employers in Sports for 2024.
At Allied Sports, we let our values speak louder than our value proposition. We begin every weekly all-company meeting by reinforcing the organizational values that define what it means to be Allied.
  • Driven - All grit, no quit. We love what we do and use that drive to help our clients win every day.
  • Versatile - Built for change. We strive for continuous improvement; progress, not perfection.
  • Meticulous - Do the corners because details matter. Little things done well make big things happen.
  • Real - We lead with transparency and vulnerability to empower teammates who feel heard and seen.
  • One - We, not me. We always put team first and find every opportunity to reward the assist.
