Job description

Platform & Developer Experience Engineer

This role is located at our Corporate Office in Arden Hills, MN. We offer a hybrid work environment that consists of 3 days in the office (T/W/Th) and 2 days remote/virtual (M/F).

This role does not offer full remote/virtual. This role does not offer relocation assistance.

Land O’Lakes will not consider this position for immigration sponsorship, and all applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Land O’Lakes is seeking a Platform & Developer Experience Engineer to join the Software Engineering team within our Technology organization. In this role, you will design, build, and operate the internal developer experience that powers software delivery across the enterprise — owning the developer journey from code generation through deployment. You will partner closely with developers, security, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver self-service capabilities, golden-path CI/CD templates, and AI-assisted developer tooling that accelerates delivery, reduces friction, and embeds security and compliance by default.

This role anchors as the bridge between Infrastructure, Security, and Product development teams and enables the shift towards AI‑led software engineering model — a strategic, multi-year capability build. The right candidate pairs strong technical depth with the collaboration, ownership, and courage to influence engineering practice across the organization.

Position Purpose

  • Own and evolve the GitHub Enterprise platform for the IT organization, covering the full developer workflow from code generation through deployment.

  • Build self-service capabilities that enable product teams to spin up applications or deploy agents with pre-baked IaC configurations, security policies, and container deployments — from clean start to production.

  • Develop and maintain golden-path CI/CD templates that enforce policy-as-code, SAST scanning, deployment gates, and security guardrails by default.

  • Operate AI-assisted developer tooling — GitHub Copilot workflows, usage policies, audit trails, Model Context Protocol (MCP) tooling, and agent-based development patterns — integrating AI capabilities directly into the developer workflow and golden paths.

  • Establish a DevEx measurement loop with metrics, instrumentation, and regularly cadenced feedback from Product Owners to surface friction points across the end-to-end developer journey.

  • Drive measurable improvements in developer productivity, deployment frequency, lead time for changes, and change failure rate by focusing capacity on product-aligned, outcome-driven priorities.

  • Partner across Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Security teams — raising hard questions early, sharing trade-offs transparently, and using simplified execution to keep delivery moving toward high-impact outcomes within an Agile, DevSecOps, product-oriented culture.

  • Take ownership of platform outcomes — reliability, performance, scalability, and cost — and champion continuous improvement through experimentation, prototyping, and disciplined iteration informed by validated insights.

  • Support Power Platform and RPA administration through automation, AI, and platform analytics to streamline operations, reporting, governance, and cost efficiency.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline — or an equivalent combination of demonstrated skills and experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Development or DevSecOps engineering role

  • Hands-on experience with developer platforms (such as GitHub or Azure DevOps), and DevSecOps practices

  • Working experience with Microsoft Azure Platform (App Service, Container Apps, AKS,) or Similar Cloud Platforms

  •  Knowledge of creating infrastructure-as-code (Bicep, ARM or Terraform)

  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, C#, TypeScript, Go, or similar).

Required Competencies & Other Skills

  • Collaboration across engineering, security, and product partners — involves others appropriately, welcomes input, and shares information openly so there are no surprises.

  • Ownership of outcomes — takes responsibility for both successes and failures, follows through on commitments, monitors progress, and adjusts approach when results diverge from intent.

  • Innovation mindset — builds on new ideas and solutions, experiments to learn, applies new concepts to long-standing problems, and adapts quickly from what doesn’t work.

  • Excellent communication with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to turn raw developer feedback into a prioritized platform roadmap.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with AI developer tooling — GitHub Copilot, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and agent-based developer workflows

  • Platform Administration Experience (a Plus)

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern deployment patterns including blue/green and canary releases (a Plus)

The salary range for this role is $93,360 - $140,040. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
