Description

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Power Distribution Engineering Technician. The Power Distribution Engineering Technician (Field Support) will be responsible for conducting field inspections and staking requests while, at times, performing assignments associated with the design and engineering of overhead and underground facilities of various voltage levels. The Power Distribution Engineering Technician (Field Support) ensures compliance with safety code requirements, state and federal regulatory requirements, client procedures, and design standards. They will execute fielding/staking requests and learn projects under the lead of a Senior Engineering Technician, working closely with engineers performing other distribution, renewable energy, power storage, and communication designs.  

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive to and from job sites, conduct field surveys and/or gather data to support project design and development. 
  • Perform staking requests for engineers with limited supervision using a GPS locating device. 
  • Stake the locations of facilities using technical design drawings.  
  • Work closely with team members to troubleshoot issues and provide potential solutions while on site and during project execution. 
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation as well as provide updates on assigned tasks. 
  • Learn and utilize client-specific engineering software tools to view technical drawings and documentation. 
  • Show continued professional growth with specific technologies and actively seek opportunities for professional growth. 

Required Skills:

  • 0-2yrs experience.  
  • HS diploma or equivalent 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Windows-based programs 
  • Ability to interpret data and solve problems 

Preferred Experience:

  • Associate's degree 
  • Relevant Industry Experience 
  • Experience with NESC, ASCE and IEEE standards. 
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, IKE PoleForeman, MicroStation, O-Calc, SPIDAcalc
