Position Summary

The Data Systems and Applications Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Technology, is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the district's data systems, student information systems and other student and staff data applications, SQL environments, Microsoft data and application platforms, and reporting infrastructure. 

The person in this role ensures the integrity, security, integration, and accessibility of data across systems while supporting staff through high-quality reporting, dashboards, and data tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Data Warehouse & SQL Management

  • Maintain and optimize the district data warehouse environment.
  • Write, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformations.
  • Monitor and resolve data integration and ETL issues.
  • Perform ongoing data validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Pull new data sources into the warehouse and structure data to support reporting needs.

Microsoft Environment & Reporting

  • Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments. Including application like PowerBI, Power Reports and Power Apps.
  • Create and maintain district-level reports aligned with instructional and operational goals.
  • Manage user access and security roles within Power BI.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA and Minnesota Data Privacy regulations.

Systems Integration & Application Management

  • Maintain and support Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Maintain integrations between technology systems and ensure accurate data transfer.
  • Manage and support PowerApps and other Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Manage application licensing, contracts, and legal requirements related to data and privacy.
  • Work across other district departments on reporting needs and supporting state reporting. 

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Steward district data privacy and security practices.
  • Maintain appropriate security roles and user access controls.
  • Document data systems, processes, and workflows.

Training & Support

  • Provide training and support for staff on reports, dashboards, and data tools.
  • Create documentation, guides, and tutorials for data system users.
  • Respond to work requests related to reporting, application support and systems access.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL query development.
  • Experience managing or supporting a data warehouse environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft programming environment including Power Apps, Power BI, Power Reports, scripting, and Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of data integration concepts and ETL processes.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations (FERPA preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in K12 education data systems.
  • Experience with Infinite Campus or similar SIS platforms.
  • Experience with LMS platforms such as Schoology or Seesaw.
  • Experience with PowerApps development.
  • Knowledge of API integrations and data exchange standards.

Education & Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience supporting SQL environments, reporting systems, or enterprise applications.
  • Experience supporting multi-platform environments (Windows, Microsoft 365, cloud systems).

Group Unaffiliated Position

Data Systems and Applications Coordinator

Rate of Pay $90,000-$102,000/year (placement determined based on experience and qualifications) Benefits Medical, Dental, Sick Leave, 403(b), Life, LTD, FSA Other Salary pro-rated based on start date.
