Job description

Job Overview: Provide career education to grade 5-8 middle school students on a weekly basis,including but not limited to soft skills that will promote student success in the workforce and enhance employability opportunities. All career education lessons will follow the approved state course standards.
Job Functions:
  • Expand middle school student comprehension of the available high school CTE
  • Programs of Study (POS), as well as the available EPSOs embedded in each POS. This will include a better understanding of how the POS will be useful in meeting student's long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with the school counseling staff and principals to administer Career Assessments and Pre- ACT evaluations.
  • Assessment and evaluation feedback will be shared with all students and will be used to create short-term and long-term career goals.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise industry and postsecondary tours along with the middle school counselors and high school career education staff.
  • Assist the middle and high school counselors in developing and implementing a high school preview night and presentation for current 8th graders and their parents. The goal of this event is to smooth the transition of middle school students into the high school setting.
