Job description

Every Moment Matters.

Every interaction at Populus has the power to leave someone inspired-not just by exceptional hospitality, but by a deeper connection to nature, community, and one another. Whether you're welcoming guests, preparing a meal, caring for our spaces, or supporting the team behind the scenes, your work helps bring our mission to life and makes you an essential part of a new species of hospitality.

A Rare Opportunity

At Crescent Hotels & Resorts, we believe exceptional hotels begin with exceptional people. We are seeking a Group Sales Manager for one of the country's most distinctive lifestyle hotels.
Populus is more than a hotel—it is a destination built with purpose. Inspired by Colorado's iconic Aspen tree and recognized as the nation's first carbon-positive hotel, Populus seamlessly blends inspired architecture, exceptional food and beverage, immersive experiences, sustainability, and community into a hospitality experience unlike any other. Every guest interaction, partnership, and commercial decision contributes to a brand redefining modern lifestyle hospitality.

How We Lead at Populus
  • Rooted in Nature: We draw inspiration from nature's resilience, stewardship, balance, and long-term thinking.
  • Generous: We create value by giving back—to our guests, associates, community, and environment.
  • Curious: We embrace creativity, innovation, continuous learning, and thoughtful collaboration.
  • Brave: We lead with integrity, accountability, transparency, and the courage to challenge convention.

We are committed to providing you with:

  • Highly competitive annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience
  • Operational incentive plan eligibility
  • Comprehensive benefits for eligible associates and family members
  • 401(k) program with company match
  • Travel discounts at Crescent-managed properties throughout North America
  • Career growth opportunities with a leading hospitality management company
  • The opportunity to lead one of the most innovative and purpose-driven hotels in the United States
Your Impact
  • Proactively solicit, build, and strengthen relationships within market group sales seeking opportunities through various sales channels and working to build long-term value-based customer relationships.
  • Respond to RFPs, prepare proposals and upsell each business opportunity to maximize revenue potential.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and expectations for conferences and events.
  • Conduct site tours for clients as needed and provide personalized service and support throughout the planning process, from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.
  • Foster long-term relationships with clients by delivering exceptional service and anticipating their needs for future events.
  • Move throughout property to conduct site inspections. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
  • Prepare weekly resumes and event orders to discuss with all departments to ensure the proper servicing of all groups. Submit weekly activity report to leader on a timely basis.
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Travel locally to conduct outside calls, promote the hotel and review competition.
  • Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Represent hotel at trade shows. Set up exhibits involving bending, stooping, lifting and reaching overhead.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of hotel sales experience at a full-service property is required.
  • Experience selling in the Denver market is required.
  • Proficiency in sales systems (Delphi), hotel PMS, and Microsoft Office is HIGHLY preferred.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and vendors through various platforms, including phone and email.
  • Travel to industry-related trade shows and/or outside sales calls may be required.
  • Passion for lifestyle hospitality, innovation, sustainability, authentic guest experiences, and community engagement.

At Populus, every role is a stewardship role. Every decision shapes our guests, our community, and the future of hospitality.

Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to do more than lead Sales & Marketing.
It is an opportunity to shape a brand, inspire a team, influence a destination, and help define the future of lifestyle hospitality.
At Populus, exceptional commercial performance and purposeful hospitality are not competing priorities—they are inseparable.
If you are energized by creating demand, building meaningful partnerships, leading with curiosity, and delivering measurable business results while honoring a brand with purpose, we invite you to help write the next chapter of Populus.

If you're someone who cares deeply about people, takes pride in doing the right thing, stays curious, and enjoys being part of something bigger than yourself, you'll feel at home at Populus. Together, we'll create meaningful experiences that leave our guests-and our world-a little better than we found them.
