Job description

Overview
Head of Production / Studio & Technical Lead (Video Podcast Network)
Location: [On-site / Hybrid / Remote + Travel as needed]
Reports to: Senior Program Director (or Network Leadership)
Supports: Multiple shows across Salem Podcast Network
Salem Podcast Network, a division of Salem Media, is looking for a full-time Head of Production for our video podcast network.
Role Summary
We're building a high-output, video-first podcast network and need a hands-on production leader who can make every show look and sound premium. You'll own the studio environment and technical execution: camera, lighting, audio capture, live troubleshooting, and repeatable workflows that scale across shows.
This is a practical, operator role-someone who can build a clean system and also jump in and execute when it's go-time.
Responsibilities
What You'll Own
  • Studio setup and consistency across shows (lighting, camera placement, audio capture, backgrounds)
  • Technical production workflow (pre-flight checklists, capture settings, file management, handoff to post)
  • Live troubleshooting during recording (audio, sync, camera issues, software/hardware hiccups)
  • Standardizing gear, templates, and documentation so production runs the same way every time
  • Coordinating with show Executive Producers and the network team to support daily/weekly schedules
  • Supporting producers as needed on recording days (logistics, run-of-show support)
Success Looks Like (First 60-90 Days)
  • Shows have a consistent "premium look" and clean, broadcast-quality audio capture
  • A repeatable production checklist and setup guide is in place
  • Fewer technical issues and faster fixes when problems happen
  • Smooth handoffs to post-production with minimal missing files/sync issues

Qualifications
Requirements
  • 4+ years in video production (podcast, studio, live, or digital media)
  • Strong working knowledge of lighting, camera systems, and audio capture
  • Calm, fast troubleshooting under time pressure
  • Strong organization: file naming, delivery, documentation, repeatable processes
  • Comfortable working across multiple shows with different formats and needs
Nice to Have
  • Experience with multi-cam podcast production
  • Familiarity with ATEM/Blackmagic workflows, DSLR/mirrorless rigs, lav/boom setups
  • Basic editing knowledge (enough to understand downstream post needs)

Benefits
Why Salem?
  • Comprehensive multi-platform solutions portfolio
  • Uncapped earning potential: competitive base + commission
  • Research and pre-sales support team
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Award-winning "Great Place to Work" culture
  • Full benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO

EEO Statement
Come see how Salem is DIFFERENT and why we've been certified as a "Great Place to Work" and as a "Best and Brightest" equal opportunity employer.
Compensation
$85,000 Annually
