What training is needed for POCT?

POCT professionals are responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic tests at or near the site of patient care, ensuring results are accurate and timely for critical treatment decisions. Daily tasks often include calibrating and maintaining POCT devices, training clinical staff on proper testing procedures, conducting quality control checks, and documenting test results in electronic health records. They also frequently troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and laboratory personnel to support efficient patient care. This hands-on role requires adaptability and attention to detail, as procedures and test volumes can vary based on the needs of the clinical setting.
