What are the typical challenges PMO analysts face when supporting multiple projects simultaneously?

PMO Analysts often juggle several projects at once, which requires strong organizational and time management skills. One of the main challenges is ensuring consistent reporting and data accuracy across diverse teams and project managers, each with their own processes and priorities. Maintaining clear communication and proactively identifying risks or resource conflicts are essential to keep projects aligned with organizational goals. Adapting to shifting deadlines and priorities while upholding PMO standards can also be demanding, but it offers valuable experience in project governance and stakeholder management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PMO analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PMO Analyst, you need a solid understanding of project management methodologies, data analysis, and reporting, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project, Jira, or Smartsheet, as well as certifications such as CAPM or PMP, is highly beneficial. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate stakeholders and manage project documentation effectively. These skills ensure the successful tracking, reporting, and delivery of projects in alignment with organizational goals.

What is a PMO analyst?

PMO stands for Project or Program Management Office, a department that oversees projects in a company. A PMO analyst tracks data that streams through the department and ensures that every phase of company projects run smoothly. As a PMO analyst, you examine reported data and determine whether or not the procedures used at the company should be improved to increase efficiency. You also monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within budget. Many who have several years of experience in project management move into this management position.

Governance and Compliance Manager, PMO

AFL DATA CENTER SERVICES

Remote, U.S.-based. Preference given to candidates located in or near Abilene, TX, Northern Virginia, Dallas, TX or Duncan, SC.

ABOUT AFL

AFL is a global manufacturer of fiber optic and electrical infrastructure solutions, wholly owned by Fujikura, a technology leader founded in 1885. Headquartered in Duncan, SC, AFL supports telecommunications, energy, and data center markets worldwide.

ABOUT AFL DATA CENTER SERVICES

AFL Data Center Services, a division of AFL US Services, delivers large-scale infrastructure solutions supporting some of the world’s largest data center environments.

Our expertise includes network infrastructure deployment, pathway installation, bulk fiber installation, high-volume fiber splicing, interconnect and backbone deployment, testing, certification, and operational support. We thrive in fast-paced environments where precision, execution, quality, and safety matter.

WHY AFL DATA CENTER SERVICES

  • Backed by a financially strong global parent company
  • Rapidly growing Data Center infrastructure services organization
  • Support Big 5 Hyperscalers
  • Deep expertise in large-scale deployment execution
  • Strong safety culture and operational discipline
  • Opportunity to help build the next generation of digital infrastructure

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a new seat in the Governance pillar of a brand new PMO. The Governance and Compliance Manager will own the standards, playbooks, and compliance scaffolding that turn AFL's strong operational instinct into a repeatable, auditable program management discipline.

You will join early enough to shape what gets written, what gets adopted, and what gets retired. This role blends process design with change management. The right person is as comfortable walking a playbook through adoption with a seasoned operational team as they are drafting it.

WHY THIS ROLE

  • Adoption is the actual job. Documentation matters, but the win is process that sticks with operators who have been figuring things out as they went
  • You will define the governance and compliance bar for a service line on a multi hundred-million-dollar trajectory

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and maintain the PMO standards library, including playbooks, templates, process maps, and compliance documentation
  • Drive adoption of PMO standards and playbooks across multiple geographies and project teams, with hands on field engagement rather than top-down rollout
  • Develop and maintain the PMO standards library, including playbooks, templates, process maps, and compliance documentation
  • Partner with operations and delivery leads to translate field practice into documented, repeatable processes.
  • Establish and run the compliance and audit cadence for project management discipline across the portfolio
  • Build the change management approach for new and revised processes, using ADKAR, Prosci, or equivalent frameworks
  • Identify gaps surfaced during rollout and close them with documentation, training, or escalation as needed
  • Coordinate with the Delivery and Analytics and Enablement pillars to ensure standards align with reporting and dashboard needs
  • Support the PMO Vice President and PMO Director on charter execution and operating model evolution

WHAT YOU BRING

  • PMP or PgMP required
  • ADKAR/ Prosci, or equivalent change management certification strongly preferred
  • Eight plus years of progressive experience in PMO, program management, or process excellence roles, with proven methodology and adoption track record
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling PMO process libraries from scratch or near scratch
  • Comfort working with experienced operational teams who have figured things out as they went, and the credibility to introduce structure without disrupting flow
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to translate practitioner knowledge into clean, usable artifacts
  • Strong facilitation and influence skills, comfortable leading process adoption with experienced technical and operational teams
  • Hyperscale, data center, EPC, telecom infrastructure, or large industrial experience is a plus, not a requirement. Project management discipline is the priority

TRAVEL AND AUTHORIZATION

  • Travel is up to 40 percent, heavier in the early months as the team builds connection with operations and customer sites
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a long-term basis. This position does not offer employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

COMPENSATION

Compensation philosophy, base plus consideration for project performance bonus tied to initiatives success measures, quality, safety, schedule, and customer satisfaction. Specific ranges discussed during candidate conversations.

AFL Data Center Services is committed to building a team that reflects the customers and communities we serve. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
