Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Hatch's Engineering organization is seeking high performing supervisors with an analytical mindset. These positions will be located at Southern Nuclear's Plant Hatch in Baxley, GA.
Summary of Position Duties
The Systems Engineering Supervisor leads a team of engineers responsible for the health, reliability, and performance of assigned plant systems. This position provides technical leadership, personnel development, and oversight of engineering activities that support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. The supervisor ensures engineering resources are focused on identifying issues early, managing risk, and driving timely and effective resolution of equipment and system challenges.
Supervisory duties include:
  • Ensure proper implementation of corporate, plant and department policies/procedures
  • Ensure focus and prioritization for Core Engineering activities.
  • Ensure training and qualification of personnel in accordance with applicable procedures
  • Provide effective and efficient support of Maintenance and Operations in trouble shooting and problem resolution activities.
  • Function as acting department manager when necessary
  • Serve as duty Engineering Supervisor or Manager
  • Serve on an Emergency Response Team rotation and respond within 90 minutes.
  • Ensure proper industrial and radiation safe practices are followed by employees and contractors, specifically
    • Must model safe work behaviors
    • Must have the ability to initiate and encourage others to follow safe work practices
    • Must be able to hold self and others accountable for safe work behaviors
  • Ensure personnel embrace the use of Human Performance Tools (Fleet and Engineering).

Requirements
  • Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (required) from an accredited college or university or hold a PE license.
  • A minimum of five (5) years nuclear experience is required with a preference for ten (10) years of nuclear power experience is desired for this position.
  • Nuclear site Engineering experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience within an engineering organization is desired
  • Experience in multiple departments (operations, maintenance, etc.) desired
  • Solid plant operations knowledge of generation and nuclear systems.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Plant Codes and Standards.

Preferred:
  • Shift Technical Advisor or Operations (SRO) license/certification experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • An advanced degree will be an advantage.

Behavioral Attributes
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and/or large projects with minimal supervision. This position requires strong ownership skills, proactive traits, and good client relations and interpersonal skills.
