Job description

Overview
As a Specialty Pizza Cook, you play a key role in delivering high-quality, handcrafted pizzas with consistency and attention to detail. Working closely with the Sous Chef or Executive Chef, you are responsible for preparing, assembling, and cooking pizzas to established standards, ensuring each item is executed with precision, speed, and creativity. In this role, your primary focus is on pizza production-from stretching dough and building pizzas to baking and finishing-while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and food safety. You are essential in creating a memorable dining experience by consistently delivering exceptional pizza to every guest.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $24.50 - $25.00.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Board of Health and ServSafe regulations.
  • Prepare pizza dough, sauces, and toppings according to established recipes and standards.
  • Stretch, shape, and build pizzas with accuracy, consistency, and attention to presentation.
  • Operate and monitor pizza ovens, ensuring proper cook times, temperatures, and product quality.
  • Maintain quality control by checking the appearance, texture, and doneness of all pizzas before service.
  • Execute specialty and custom pizza orders efficiently in a high-volume environment.
  • Ensure proper portioning and topping distribution to maintain cost control and product consistency.
  • Complete all assigned production priorities daily.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the work area (including but not limited to pizza stations, ovens, prep surfaces, refrigerators, counters, tables, and storage areas).
  • Equipment/tools may be available, but it is suggested that you provide and secure your own tools.
  • Inform supervisor of any shortages, ingredient needs, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain proper food storage, rotation (FIFO), and ingredient freshness specific to pizza station items.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order execution.
  • Creates and supports a team environment.

Qualifications
  • Scheduling flexibility is essential; must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen, with pizza or specialty pizza experience preferred
  • Knowledge of pizza dough handling, stretching, and baking techniques (hand-tossed, thin crust, etc.).
  • Familiarity with pizza ovens (deck, conveyor, or wood-fired) and ability to monitor bake quality and timing.
  • Must be able to consistently execute specialty pizzas following recipes, portioning, and presentation standards.
  • Strong knowledge of pizza ingredients, flavor profiles, and specialty combinations.
  • Ability to manage multiple pizza orders efficientlyin a high-volume environment.
  • Must have practical understanding of kitchen sanitation.
  • Must be able to work in a high-stress environment.
  • Able to work in an environment with both hot and cold temperatures.
  • Must adhere to uniform standards policy.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
