Job description

The Companion Animal Group (CAG) Diagnostic Software organization is responsible for the software experiences (in-clinic and in-cloud) that connect IDEXX diagnostics to the daily workflow of every veterinary practice we serve.
The Associate Director, PIMS Integrations Product Manager is the senior product leader accountable for IDEXX's integration with Practice Information Management Systems (PIMS), a critical channel within the OneIDEXX experience. OneIDEXX is CAG Diagnostic Software's North Star: meeting veterinary practices where they are. Whether through their PIMS, IVLS, VetConnect PLUS, MyIDEXX, IDEXX Online Orders, or other surfaces. To ensure the customers encounter one coherent IDEXX experience across every touchpoint.
The role is obsessively focused on clean, efficient integrations: flawless inside IDEXX-owned PIMS, where IDEXX controls both sides of the connection, and strategically excellent across the broader third-party PIMS ecosystem. From the customer's point of view, the partnership is invisible; the experience is IDEXX, held to a single quality bar.
PIMS integration is one of the largest opportunities for IDEXX Diagnostic Software to advance this North Star. Done well, every IDEXX test a practice runs lands cleanly in their PIMS, every new product launch shows up working, and customer-facing commercial teams spend their time supporting our customers with our diagnostic solutions, not on integration mechanics.
The Associate Director sets the multi-year integration strategy, defines the operating model that delivers it, and partners across IDEXX product lines, the IDEXX-owned PIMS businesses, the broader PIMS partner ecosystem, and IDEXX's commercial and support organizations. The role is empowered to draw a new path forward that pursues excellence inside the IDEXX-controlled stack and designs a deliberate strategy for the third-party ecosystem, recognizing the natural variability in what partners are willing and able to invest in a frictionless IDEXX experience.
In This Role, You Will
  • Own the multi-year strategy for PIMS as a critical channel for advancing the OneIDEXX North Star. Maintain a coherent portfolio view of PIMS integration, with explicit choices about where IDEXX leads, where IDEXX partners, and where IDEXX designs around constraints.
  • Set and hold the quality bar for what an IDEXX integration looks like across the portfolio. Product ownership for PIMS Integration platforms (VC+ Integration, Interlink and Interlink App Integrations), including lifecycle management and EOL strategy for legacy integrations.

IDEXX-Owned and Third-Party PIMS Integration Strategy
  • Make the integration experience inside IDEXX-owned PIMS - where IDEXX controls both sides of the connection - a visible differentiator that earns the right to be the customer's default.
  • Define and operate the product strategy for integrating with third-party PIMS, recognizing the variability in partner willingness and capacity to invest in an IDEXX-friendly experience.
  • Partner with the leader of PIMS Vendor Partnerships to evolve the commercial and technical structure of IDEXX's partner relationships toward a coherent, scalable shape.

New Product Launch Readiness and on-market Customer Experience
  • Streamline the launch of new IDEXX Diagnostic products through PIMS so that new tests arrive in the customer's PIMS as part of the launch, supported with the right enablement for field and phone support.
  • Make PIMS integration a first-class concern in product definition across IDEXX business units, designed in at the spec stage rather than added on. Hold authority to flag products as "not field-ready" for PIMS integration before launch. Make the daily workflow inside the practice simpler by translating signal from customers, field, and support into product requirements that reduce friction at the point of care.

Field and Phone Support Enablement
  • Design with IDEXX's customer-facing organizations - commercial teams and customer support - in mind, providing them with the tools, content, and clarity to deliver a confident integration experience to every customer. Maintain a deep relationship with field and support leadership so customer and field signal informs product on a defined cadence.

Integration Health and Reporting
  • Define what a healthy IDEXX integration looks like in operation - both for our customer and internally - and how IDEXX knows, at scale, that it is healthy.
  • Establish the measures and the reporting rhythm that make integration health visible to leadership.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead through influence across IDEXX product lines, the IDEXX-owned PIMS businesses, Engineering, Commercial, Field and Phone Support, and Customer & Technical Support.
  • Build a small, senior product team that operates as a single domain team alongside R&D delivery, accountable end-to-end for the PIMS integration experience. Communicate strategy, progress, and trade-offs clearly to the CAG Dx Software leadership team and broader senior stakeholders.

Strategic Horizon
The strategy runs on two clocks. In the near term, focused moves can measurably improve the customer's experience within a quarter. Over a multi-year horizon, the structure of how IDEXX delivers PIMS integration (operating model, partner architecture, product definition standards) evolves into a scalable shape. The Associate Director is accountable for both clocks, and for the credibility that comes from delivering early proof points while building toward the structural changes that realize the OneIDEXX North Star.
What You Will Need To Succeed
  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role managing product managers and/or cross-functional product teams.
  • Demonstrated track record setting strategy for a customer-facing product domain that spans multiple internal product lines or business units.
  • Experience designing and operating integrations between platforms, including ecosystem integrations where both owned and third-party endpoints matter.
  • Experience in regulated, technical, or scientific industries such as veterinary, healthcare, life sciences, medical devices, or laboratory diagnostics strongly preferred.
  • Experience working closely with field commercial and support teams and translating signal from those teams into product action.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, life sciences, or a related discipline. Master's degree or MBA preferred.

Skills and Competencies
  • Strategic product judgment. Sets a coherent multi-year direction and makes deliberate trade-offs about where to invest.
  • Executive presence. Communicates strategy, trade-offs, and risk in clear business terms to senior leadership.
  • Operating discipline. Translates strategy into a roadmap, a team, and a cadence that produces visible, measurable results.
  • Influence without authority. Aligns peer organizations across product lines, partners, and the commercial and support functions to a shared customer experience standard.
  • Customer obsession. Genuine curiosity about the veterinary practice's daily workflow and the experience of the people inside it.
  • Bias for simplicity. Pursues clean, efficient solutions that make it easier (not just possible) for customers to do business with IDEXX.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Veterinary industry experience, including familiarity with practice management software and the workflows it supports.
  • Experience setting product strategy for ecosystem integrations across both owned platforms and third-party partners.
  • Experience defining and operating measures of integration health: knowing at scale whether the customer experience is working.
  • Familiarity with veterinary clinical workflows, in-house diagnostics, reference lab ordering, and reflex testing patterns.
